If there was a motor/transmission/driveshaft setup that would fit in the spot where the receiver box is, and an axle that would work with that setup, it'd be kind of neat little truck actually.

I don't know them very well, isn't that a yeti, just in a 2 wheeel drive?

Pretty much, but at least that's scale accurate for every 2wd truck on the planet, along with 99.9% of cars made before 1990.

I'd love to have a 2wd solid axle shafty that I could use for scale accurate muscle car builds.

There's a new version coming! Still has that weird motor on axle setup but it comes with a bunch of upgrades and looks 80% more awesome.

Kyosho's Japanese site has this listed as the same price as the original RTR version. If that holds true for the US, it will be around $200 - $230. It's not clear yet what will be needed to make the new version ready to run but I don't see a transmitter pictured anywhere so I think we can assume a radio is needed at least.

Edit - With the motor-on-axle and now the spare tires hanging off the back, I wonder if this has enough weight in the rear to avoid the donkey kick that happens with the Baja Rey and other solid axle trucks. That could make this platform a lot more compelling. Hmm...

The donkey kick wasn't that bad on the Baja rey. I raced one for 2 years. Just went one tooth up on the pinion and kept the booger hook smashed over jumps.

But with this being moa.. yeah.. the donkey kick might be minimal or gone.. but its going to be harder to pitch the truck on bigger jumps. I'm buying a few anyways. I just hope it doesn't make me impulse buy a Baja rey again lol.

I really like the looks of all of it from the outside - but I'm not sure if I'm a convert regarding the drivetrain.

Maybe I'll bump into someone driving one on the trail and can take a turn at the wheel!

Still waiting to see if Kyosho (or Tamiya) will ever jump into the scale trail ring with more realistic vehicles.

Even Associated is trying, with their rebranded Thunder Tiger rigs...

The Kyosho video at the ball park . . . looks like the back 1/3 of the body is flappin like a beaver tail

Not that beaver tail flappin is always a bad thing

I can't nail down the difference in track width, if any...
Would it not be awesome if we could run slash/sct bodies on these?
