You know.... with as many people that run losi shocks and big bores, I'll bet you could sell quite a few of those shock mounts in those varieties... even if you made them from aluminum or delrin. I have wondered why someone with skills such as yourself hasn't already done that. Nice work! "thumbsup"

For a second I thought you were talking about the spring cups, then the picture loaded.
When I made these, I made a few extra sets and sold them here. I do alot work with exotic metals but never Titanium. Infact Titanium is a completely different alloy then I'm use to. I am having fun learning how it cuts but it takes quite a different cutting tool. When you don't have the correct inserts for Ti alloy you end up spending alot of money on them and the material. For example, I bought a 4 foot stick of 5/16 6al-4v and it cost $68.
Most hobbiers will not want to pay the cost. I can't afford the cost of enough material to get a price break.

I'll take a servo mount! lol. no but seriously I will.. Looking good!

I could make one and send it to a modeler for cad files. I cobbled it in a Bridgeport. Machinist call "cut for effect", basically cut, test-fit, cut, test-fit and so on.
I'm not to sure how this will work nosing into a rock and getting undercropped. We'll see.
 
If it means anything, I'd buy a servo mount as well.
Shelf queen? I don't see you as a shelf queen type of guy Doug, i see you more as a 3' jump from rock to rock kind of guy. With all that weight removed and JPH motors, your new rig may end up in the bay though. Think it will float?:lmao:
Are those berg or axial VP knuckles and 300's?
 
Yes' I've be interested. Be interested to see if it hangs up as well, looks like a great servo protection option.

I also need to thru the programming. I have everything equally set on the ESCs yet my rear motor is rolling earlier and faster.
I played with the mixes to equal them out which is fine for now.
I may need to swap front and rear motors and see if I get the same issues.
 
i have the same issue. it seems like the front is running at 80%-90% and the rear is at 100%. i did the same thing with the radio adjustment.
 
Not too impressive. 5lbs, 8 oz less body.
I have been playing around with it a little and it crawls very good.
Side hilling is the best I've ever seen but that's still without a body.

I need to make a few changes that will lighten it up some more.
I would also like to put the RC axle master rear shafts in but I'll wait for a final weight on it.

I played around with the ESCs and mixes and got a much more satisfactory result. I'm running a DX6i and two Tekin FX-R Pros. The 6i is good for 2 mixes but my mixing combos give me 4 mixes;
1) front dig
2) 4wd
3) Clod delete (50%F/100%R)
4) Squat mode (100%F/50%R)

Squat mode is the side hill killer.
I'm still slowly getting used to the sticks and being careful while driving bodiless.
 
5.5lbs RTR with body is pretty close to the sweet spot Doug. I prefer 5.25lbs. I have run all the way from 4.5lbs to 7lbs and 5.25 is by far my favorite. "thumbsup"
 
did you countersing front axle? compliments for the result..
i write from Italy and for my berg i would to do a similar job..
i have a friend that have a workshop with lathe and cutter..this afternoon i bring him rear axle to reduce it from 16mm of diameter to 11 mm of diameter but frontend for now i have no idea..
i saw your great job on your axle so can you tell me specifically which tools did you use for front axle?

The chamfer on the axle tube was done with a Hardinge GT CNC lathe.
A 5c emergency collet was bored to hold the tube flange and a groove tool was programmed to generate the angle.
Forming this angle would be a bad thing as it will spit the tube from the collet, unless you minimize your depth of cut, and take several cuts.
