I picked up one of these kits the other day and have started building it. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Building it single speed high gear, Mamba X with a 3800kV motor to run on 3s.

My diffs have gone together smoothly and all 3 operate smooth as well even after the covers are on the axles. I am running 20 million in the front and locked center and rear. I have been waiting on the slow boat from China to bring me my Vivaton rear locker.

Now THAT'S "blue". Luuuv it. Can I 'borrow' your cage...it matches my Vitavon axles...lol

Morning update. Got the skid all together and the Mamba X and motor calibrated and servo working. Waiting on the castle link cable which should be here today. Got a little bit of painting to do and things will be going together.

I noticed you mentioned your diffs spin smoothly...even after the metal diff covers are installed. Is this an issue, because I just assembled mine and the pinion seems to be binding. I haven't had a chance to look too closely at it yet.

if I push in on the end of the pinion and try to rotate it, it is kinda rough. Just spinning it or pulling out on it (which is what is going to happen when it is under load) they all spin super smooth even with the covers tightened all the way down. There was one member on here I think that said he had to back off the screws that hold the diff cover on to get his to spin smooth.

If your 'problem' is what JDM74 mentioned (ie. 'rough' when pushing the pinion in), there's a fairly simple solution. The third member uses two bearings - one inside the axle housing, next to the pinion; the other on the outside, closer to the driveshaft.

Remove the outside bearing, toand place shims between the axle housing & bearing, starting with a couple 0.2mm shims. Then, attach the driveshaft ends that attaches to the pinion. Next, hold the axle with one hand, and lightly 'press' the driveshaft towards the axle with the other hand...then, using that same hand to rotate the driveshaft. If it rotates freely, problem solved. If it's too loose, remove one of the 0.2mm shims, and replace it with a 0.1mm shim. If there's still binding (although, of there is, I'm willing to bet it's less than it was prior to adding the shims), add a 0.1mm shim. Keep repeating the add/remove process until there's no more binding, but also no looseness. In doing this, don't forget to test the rotation when lightly 'pulling' e driveshaft.

The point in this, as well as adding the shims, is to simultaneously limit the in/out movement of the pinion, while also sightly moving the pinion away from the ring. Technically, adding the shims doesn't do anything within the axle...but, it does force the pinion 'outward' when attaching the driveshaft, as well as limiting the aforementioned in/out movement. Once you have one axle perfectly set, do the same with the other axle.

So I got everything together. Tires aren't glued yet as I don't know what I am going to do with these SSD wheels that I can't get the tires on and I have a set of dual stage foams on the way form Amain. Anyway, a couple pics:

I was thinking bare Aluminum axles, links and sway bar arms to go with the Al body panels.
 
So I got my proline dual stage foams in so I figured I'd give it one more try and success! I guess there is enough room in there or the Delron ring stretches as you tighten every thing up. Here is a quick pick and a video of the drop test with battery installed RTR state:

The panels turned out great and look perfect with the blue cage! The SSD wheels really set off the look!
 
Awesome looking rig. Just out of curiosity, how deep does the dye go into the plastic? Did you try a sample piece to scratch up to simulate carnage?

I've been wondering the same thing...about "how deep does it go". I've dyed 2 gray, and 1 blue, Traxxas chassis to black...but, one has a chassis protector, one is a drag car that's still x under construction", and the last one is part of a Sl4sh roller that's yay to be built up.

I'm not sure but it has been skidding on its lid since this pic was taken and can't see any color fade at all. This 3800 kV motor on 3S is a bit too much, lol. I'm going to try it on 2S and see if it comes close to sanity.
