Jato Assembles a TRX-4 Sport Unassembled Kit

I don't think those are aluminum, i think is a weaker metal:

This just happened to me as well!! I think I'm glad that I'm not alone?

I'm ready to go! We've been battling some very wet weather here these past few weeks.

Nice and sunny this weekend! I'm just saying....

Any updates on the build off? It's been a while....

The build-off ended, sadly. It's all my fault. I lost 100% interest in RC almost overnight. The motorcycle bug bit me again and hard so I've been focusing on those toys.

OSRC contacted me and asked if it would be OK to continue modding his TRX-4 without me since I stopped trailing and I said of course. I hope to get back to this build and others come fall if my desire comes back.

The bike looks like a blast. Keep doing whatever you’re doing as long as you enjoy it. Hope to see your builds come back to life down the road, Tim "thumbsup"

He just knew my Sport was ready to kick ass and chew bubble gum... :)

Take whatever time you need - time off is good! Mine will still be here whenever.

Thank you! The bike is a blast and I'm having a ton of fun riding, modifying and tinkering with it!

And I'm all out of bubble gum so I feared for my safety. :lmao:

I do now remember part of the reason that this build stalled. An upgrade I desperately wanted from Traxxas was out of stock for a long, long time. Just last week I got notifications from AMain and RPP that this part is finally back in stock. I think I'm going to order one just in case the RC bug comes back.

So after a huge delay I did some work on the Snot Sport today!

For some reason the Traxxas UD gears were out of stock forever. I picked some up a little while ago and installed them today. OD gears have been installed in the front of this truck for a while.

He's the locker with the stock ring gear.

Disassembled locker assembly along with the stock pinion gear.

And here's the underdrive gear installed on the locker. This gear was really machined incorrectly. The one counterbore isn't even large enough for the screw head. And the thru holes didn't line up with the threaded holes on the locker. When I saw that the last screw wouldn't fit in the counterbore I tried taking it apart and that's when the screws were really bound up. Putting as much force as I possibly could into the screw the 1.5mm hex head still stripped out. Good thing everything was tight. I used it as is, but I think this is the only defective gear I've ever received from Traxxas. I believe the overdrive ring gear in the front also had minor alignment issues with the thru holes matching up with the threaded holes in the locker, but nothing like this.

Are you going to take it out for a crawl to see how it does with the new UD gear?

If I can get my lazy ass out of bed tomorrow morning I'm going to hit the trails with OSRC - not in a continuation of this build-off though because he's continued on and changed his truck significantly. But my focus tomorrow is to get run time on the Capra so I'm not sure I'll use this truck. If I do it will also be the first run with the replacement Revolver from Holmes.

That's cool. I love the startup on the revolver and just how smooth it is, but the sound it makes just cracks me up. Sounds like a vacuum cleaner.

Odd thing is my Revolver wasn't smooth so they replaced it. This new one also isn't smooth...

I've always found it odd that a sensorless motor (Revolver) could be smooth like a sensored motor. Sorry yours isn't smooth, but it seems like John Holmes has great customer service

I'm pretty sure it's something in my setup. Everybody else states how smooth their Revolver starts up and the second Revolver was tested at Holmes before being sent to me.

Out with the Holmes in with the Holmes. Bye bye, Revolver!

This time it's the TrailMaster Sport 550 21T.

Perfect fit!

I also took the time, since I had servo extensions on hand, to add one of these to the ESC lead to the receiver. This way I'll be able to disconnect the ESC wire and program it without having to open up the receiver box.

Bummer the Revolver didn't work out. That motor line has my curiosity. The 21T Trailmaster is what I originally picked for my X4 build. After re-contemplating my use for the rig late last night, likely at an hour I should have been sleeping, I ordered a Puller Pro. I need better waterproofing for winter.

I really like the Trailmaster 21t with a 1080, I have them in both my Bronco and Blazer, I'm waiting on the Mamba X and the HH 2700 Puller for my Sport build. Sucks that Revolver didn't work out, should be pretty sweet with 21t and the Mamba though. I like that extension idea for programming"thumbsup"

Yeah it had my curiosity too. But the noised drove me away. They can be smooth as hell though. I've seen it in person. Just didn't work for me.

A Puller Pro is awesome and you'll love it.

I'm sure it goes great with a 1080. I'll probably switch to that on this truck if I ever need the Mamba X for something else.

Thanks!

Man, that is weird on your Revolver Jato. I put mine in the Sport last week with a Mamba-X and I’m loving it. Running 45spur and 11pinion with UD out back. Start up is awesome and it will just creep at a nearly undetectable pace. I’ve got OD gears on the way to throw up front. Wondering if maybe they’re just a bit tall for smooth start up on the Revolver? I guess I’m gonna find out.
