Hey community, family, it's been awhile!
Haven't been lurking around the forum, until I said, I want a crawler, I'm in AZ, seen a post on IG, and said,I'm buying a TRX4 for this beautiful terrain, so I bought one, lol.

The color will blend in with the sand.... 😂 After soooooo many years, I finally have one. 😂

So anyone would like to start saying what to upgrade this thing with.... Like back in the days....... Lolol

Hope to see familiar names(faces) and get to know the news members.

I would post pics .... But learning all this new stuff again, have a moto 5g phone, and no idea how to upload pics, so probably thru Tapatalk.

Welcome, back, Drive it till it breaks
then upgrade the broken parts. Unless you don't want broken parts. Look in the builds/posts for what has worked sofar.

I ran with the stock esc, tx/ rx, and motor on both of my TRX4s for a long time. In fact I never had any issues with any of those components aside from the stock servos. That may be something that you want to upgrade sooner than later. All of my Traxxas RTR servos have been junk... no surprise. On a budget a lot of folks opt for the DS servo brand on Amazon. There are a few different flavors but 25kg-35kg seems to work sufficiently despite the lackluster torque. Eventually I upgraded my servos to HH direct power but dunno that that's needed. I also made the jump up to HW 1080 esc's but the stock XL5s were just fine... simply wanted some more tuning options.

Aside from that, wheels/ tires/ foams are the obvious "must have" upgrades. Of course, what works for some rigs on certain terrain may not be ideal for all but there sure are a ton of options these days. May want to add some weight down low like some brass portal covers or something but as suggested above, I'd drive the snot out of it for a while before doing too much.

Also fwiw- I ditched the stock Traxxas batteries/ connectors in favor of XT60s. I think that's a good way to cut some cost as Traxxas batteries are so expensive and there are so many reliable cheaper alternatives out there.

Congrats on the new rig!
