For dirt I have had really good luck with the Tamiya DF03RA.

The associated TC3 with some of the rally spec parts I here were pretty good too.
As well as the HPI RS4 rally. Only problem is the Associated and HPI are both discontinued, but parts are still plentiful, its just hard to find the cars themselves.

Over the course of the last year and a half I have broken/lost a few parts:

- I stripped a front knuckle hitting a car at 40MPH
- I have melted down 4 rear diffs with my 5700 brushless system
- I broke one gear on the top shaft when I had the slipper in
- I lost one dog bone in a 50MPH tumble at full throttle
- I stripped a spur gear the other day because I had a bad gear mesh

Its a really solid platform really

There are a few upgrades I have done, but it doesn't need anything out of the box.

- A few suggestions though, replace the plastic ends that hold the center shaft on with metal ones. I have not had any problems, but they have developed some play over the last 1 1/2 years.

- Get either full metal outputs or 3 racing outputs for the rear tranny and run traxxas slipper pegs in it, it locks the rear diff allows it to slide and helps the diff gear last longer.

Order a couple extra diffs, dog bones, stub shafts and front knuckles just to have.

The only real problem is all the parts I order come from Japan or China and it takes forever.

I just put a new rear diff in and got an hour on it now with zero issues, besides a couple bad bearings from driving in water and snow, mine still handles and drives like its new.

On another note the 5700 brushless system is really fun, but total over kill for this type of track racing, its really only good for full size dirt roads and watching it tumble through the air. Plus I thermal the motor after about 20 minutes.

I am running a rc18r and it seems to do well in dirt or tarmac. I am running a mamba micro pro and motor set up. Its a little over kill but I dialed it down with a castle link.

Ive got one too i think Ty was saying they were planning on running a 18th scale sc and such class. They are a pretty cool little truck for a stock cheapy.

I finally brought the camera with me while I was doing some work today.

Here is where the "track" is at so far.

Rodney and I started cutting this switch back into the hill yesterday.

The hair pin, with the staging area right behind the camera.

Just to the left of the hair pin

A little bit farther left then the last photo.

The far side of the course from the hair pin.

And the new section I started cutting today, this section should more then double the entire track.

So that is a general idea of the place, a couple areas the photos don't show very well, but this should give everyone one an idea of whats going on.

I cant wait this looks like a lot of fun. I will definately be there if I'm not in San Diego. will be there August 1st through August 5th. The track looks great. I will be in the hospital for a couple of days but after that I can try to make it out if my health lets me!

That would be awesome if you came out Griz!

You could run your hummer, but it doesn't look exactly right running next too Imprezas, Lancers, Deltas etc.

The 4 tec should do the trick.

C470 and Morrison, on the south west corner down by the creek.

Park across Morrison road from the conoco in the small dirt lot, walk east past the really big BMX dirt jumps and you will see it in the little valley down there.

Yes sir that is it, I had to look it up on google maps myself. I don't remember ever seeing a road sign for it.

Looks like a blast man. How far away are you from Denver?:mrgreen:

We could use all the help we can get, there is so much potential for this location I could cut new lines forever.

Today I went out for 4 hours and finished cutting a new section the track is about 3 times the size as the pictures show.

I will be going out to the site again tomorrow to work on it and drive the cars a little, if anyone would like to come out I will be getting there around 10:30am and probably leave by 1pm or so.

If anyone does come out and wants to help out we could use some grass killer, metal racks and flat head shovels.
