IH CXT Build

Thanks. I know you gear your CXT builds even deeper than mine and with lover KV motors too, but I really like how this ended up now. I see Pitbull offers a new firm 1.55 foam, I may try those for my trailer tires. I wanna change up the grille guard a bit and add some fender protection as well, just not too sure on which way to go yet exactly. Ideally I'd like to remove the grille bar, since I think it looks better without, but I've done enough damage to this body already.

Yah, low kv's, low gearing and 4s-5s voltage for my setups.
I cut down some 1.9 CI single stage foams for my trailer foams. They hold about 75lbs. Added a swivel caster to the underside of the trailer for human hauling. Haha.

Not a ton of 1:1 CXT to pull ideas from on tube work.

Well, just hauling my Wraith around my place has kinked the hell out of the trailer leaf springs. Looks like I'm going to mount the axles solid. It looks like yours are solid mounted too? Hard to tell from the pic. I'll move the axles back an inch or so while I'm at it, they ended up a bit more forward than I liked. Loving the new gearing, in the cooler weather today hauling the Wraith around the ESC fan never kicked on.

So I still have this rig, took it out for a crawl up to an old fire lookout peak a couple months ago. I just swapped out the motor to a Fusion Pro, no more free-wheeling downhill when any throttle is applied. I had to install a spacer under the transmission as the longer motor was hitting one of the lower rod ends.

Also removed the 7950 servo and external BEC, and installed a 9381 servo. Also Cerakoted the wheels in tungsten since they were getting a little rashed up.

First outing with the Fusion Pro and 9381 servo. Both are amazing of course, so nice to have downhill control. Still amazed with what this rig will crawl, the Growlers with the tall CI DW foams are money for this weight, even wet they stick like glue. Crawled for 2.5 hours and finished with 40% battery remaining on a 3400mAh 3s pack, most people don't realize how much of their battery usage comes from the servo. Only thing I've ever disliked about this rig is the noisy 8/60 pinion/spur gearing, doesn't help that it reverberates in that big empty cab.

This line is pretty high risk, 30ft drop straight into the river if you mess up.

I love it! For your cab noise, have you thought of doing a belt conversion? Would essentially be silent.

Would be nice but the reduction with the belt drive is only about 3:1, less than half of what it is now, that's just not enough for such a heavy rig.

I found this belt drive on Amazon that has a 16t pinion ad 60t spur to make a 3.75:1 ratio.

QUE-T Belt drive on Amazon

I used this on my 4+ kg Vanquish Phoenix straight axle which was quite loud and previously had a 15/56 pinion spur combo. The final drive ratio in the truck is about 44.1:1 rear and 41.4:1 front in the low overdrive setting.

Running a HW Fusion Pro 2300kv motor.

I also didn't want to go to a 3:1 ratio which most I saw were. This is the lowest I could find stock. If you do a little looking you can figure out the toothed belt pulley profile and pitch and I think I found a 15t pinion that matched and would fit a 1/8" (3.17mm) motor shaft but the pulley cost as much the hole set on Amazon. For me the 16/60 worked so I never bought a 15t pulley though to verify.

Still not near enough. I've done the math though, and if I turned the existing transmission into a transfer case, then used another 3 gear transmission with the belt drive, the overall ratio would almost the same as it is now. Interesting project to ponder.

I'm not sure how savvy you are with aliexpress. But if you Look up GT2 pulleys and belts, etc, they come in many sizes widths and bore holes. You could do a 10mm wide, 60/80 ish tooth gt2 pulley and a 12tooth on the motor side. (12t thats the smallest I could find with 3mm or 5mm bore hole)

and just make a custom motor plate.

At least that's my plan.
