I won it

I would have to sat they are a little tight. They stop right when they hit the lower link. I was thinking about cutting about 1" out of them but they come glued and I dont know how to unglue them. Im not sure what to do..lol I think im going to wait until my servos get here and see how it works. I would like to get abit more steering so I dont need to go with a dig unit. Anyone know how to inprove the steering??? havent searched for that yet, Still trying to get it all put together before I start cutting and moding everything. Working on the shock mounts right now to see what the best way to do that is. I was thinking I might try to do something with a cantaleaver but that might be a mod later or never.

So for some questions.

Steering mods, any ideas?

shock mounts, any ideas?

getting my tire unglued, any ideas?

And still waiting on CKRC for tranny and servos, called them today and they said it will be fri. or mon. before anything ships. This is the last time I order from them. I hate waiting for things. Im so glad to work with Rick on this build.. He ships stuff fast..Thanks Rick

I might pull my ax tranny out for a mock up since they are taking so long. Its a good thing I have lots to do or I would have canceled my order, I still might and just build a tranny from ground up.

Im done complaining for now... lol

Thanks

Short Side OFNA "Buggy" part #36052

The Cheep fix:

Grind or mill the "Cup" end down of your "Wheel Shaft"
about 2/16th (or more) and use Fuel line at the dif end of the "Dog bone"
to keep the Wheel Shaft end from coming out

Shock Mount:

With those 1/2 inch delrin links, you could drill out a "Slot" and fit the
ball end into it......

Hope this helps

hey rick, did you shave some off the steering some where to get more out of it? mine stops before it even gets close to the steering on twinfreek. I bet I could turn this around in my street if I pull a 3 point turn...lmao just kidding. I think it needs a little work to get it right.

thanks all for the input

keep it coming

Looks like your tie rod will hit the diff rather quickly if you turn very sharp. You want sharp turning?

Here's a link to my 14R build, there may be a few ideas in there.

http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=92099&highlight=black

I don't know what the tires are glued on with. Two ways to remove them.....

A sharp exacto knife. I've used this method. Cut slowly right next the the bead. It does end up cutting a little off the bead area of the tire. But, I've removed and reglued the same set of tires 3-4 times and had no issues.

I've heard boiling the wheel and tire for a few minutes breaks down CA glue and the tires will slide off. I've never tried it personally, but have heard it works. Search the tire section, I know there's several threads on this subject.

The "Dog Bones" are limiting your steering (As they do in every rc vehicle)
Thats why ppl buy CVD's

Also look where the steering knuckle hits the plastic "hub carrier"
Is the "hub carrier" limiting you steering?

you may need to grind off some plastic on the hub carrier to gain more steering

I dont think those Ebay 17mm Wheel hubs will work with stock output shafts

I found the shock mount thingies and orderd them. $8 not to bad. I guess I cant aford the cvd shafts right now since Im going broke with this build. I think Im going to try a 14turn holmes puller, or something?? anyone one want to donate a motor??? please it got to be 14 turn or more for my fxr.

Ok I have spent alot, probly could have built another ax-10 to the extreme.

axial tranny $65
Tires/wheels $80
8mm outputs $65
new axle parts (my choice) around $25
Servos $30 x2 will try them but plan to upgrade asap
other parts $45
FXR I got for $65
Need motor $50-80

stuff won $800+

Total of over $1255

I should have not added this up..omg:shock::shock::shock:

lol. I hope the wife dont get mad...

Yep........

Supers are expensive

Just imagine if you had built a MOA.............
$2200.00 or more and there not even realistic
(Not as challenging, But man they can crawl)

Well your almost there........
Sounds like you will be crawling very soon "thumbsup"

Rick

I orderd a hh puller today, I got a 14turn and from what I have read it should be plenty of power. It should be a good match for the fxr. I hope bigger is better..lol I will be out of town all weekend so I wont be able to do much.

thanks again for all the help

That, I feel, is the perfect motor on 3S for a super. I run the 10t and it has good wheel speed, but lacks in the power department when in high traction situations. That 14t should have good wheel speed and great torque. It will probably run cooler than my 10t too.

The 3s lipo is on hold until funds are built back up. I will be running a 7cell for now. I hope it enough for now but time will tell. Thanks for the input.

Never ever ever ever ever ever ever total a build:lol:

X2 on that....... It's even expensive when you make your own parts. For me, the electronics are the major cost cause I can't build those at the shop.
funny you said that, me and one of my friends figured his build up one night, when we got to $1400 dollars he started drinking a lot more and saying oh hell a lot! he drove it twice i think then shelved it, later parted it out and sold the rest. he has since built some that cost more im sure but we don't do that anymore. so im with you guys on this, whatever you do, don't ever figure it up!

can't wait to see what you think of that motor on a super. i have also be very interested in that set up.

compared to other RC hobbies these things are a drop in the bucket. i used to fly rc gliders and large scale airplanes. you can easily get to $1400 just on the powerplant. then add up 15-20 servos and you get to near $10K really fast.

So after a closer look at the wheels, I found out that I need some kind of wheel adaptor, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch will give me the clearance I will need to run them. They are rubbin on the lower links a little but I found what the real problem is. The steering link is hitting inside the wheel when its cranked to one side. I have a few ideas to fix it but it will be mid to late next week before I can do much with it. I think I will have to be creative in this fix, since Im at a holding point as far as funds go. Im so glad I have my own bank account...the wife would freak out. J/K She would just go buy more stuff to make it even..lol

thanks
