I am strongly considering purchasing a Zuul and would like widen the track width so that it is equal to a TRX-4. Will the RC4WD or Vanquish hubs work with the stock wheels? If not are there other extended hubs that will work with the stock wheels?

Trying to keep costs to a minimum. My backup plan is 8mm hexes and RC4WD OEM Stamped Steel Beadlocks.

Any length SWL hub will work. Just remember the further away from the hub the more stress on the outer bearing. Personally never had any problems though.

your better off saving your money and upgrading for about $20-$30 you can get a really nice set of aluminum wheels
and since the axles are just about the same width you might not need anything else
as a bonus the aluminum wheels are heavyer than the plastic so your rig will be more planted

Thank you for the replies. My goal is to make the Zuul a peppy trail truck, so I want to keep rotating mass and weight to a minimum. If I add weight my plan is to use aluminum/brass knuckles and diff covers.

then you will definitly want aluminum wheels those slw hubs dont hold up vary well after the 3rd set of wheels pulled the screws through the wheel i wont even run them and thats if they dont
warp first

I've never had a 1/10th Trail Truck/Crawler and I need to keep my budget to a minimum at this time. I intend to keep the Zuul mostly stock for the time being and don't plan on adding power right away. Every thing I've seen points to this being a great rig right out of the box. The only upgrades I went to do at this time is widen the track width and larger tires. I plan on running 3 cell. I don't plan on doing anything crazy, the trail I hike on is perfect for the Zuul.

When I add power down the line and want to use it, I think I'm going to go with the ProLine Mirages I linked above when I want to have some fun in the flats. They are a little taller than the stock Zuul tire and look to be the same width and they are belted, I think the included hubs will give me the offset I want and the ProLine wheels can handle the power while keeping the weight down. All of this is way down the line though, I want to make sure everything that needs to be gets upgraded so that it can handle the power so I don't break on the trail.

1/10 Mirage TT F/R 2.2"/3.0" 12mm & 14mm Black Raid Wheels (2)

dont waist your money on those they arent trail/crawler tires

those are short course truck tires

I know. I want my Zuul to be a multi purpose truck. My goal is to build it so that it works well on a trail with crawler specific tires and beadlocks while also being capable of being a desert runner, which is where the SCT tires come into play.

I plan to eventually replace the Stealth X with a 3 gear SCX transmission with steel gears. If I were buying today I would replace the motor/ESC with a Hobbywing Axe 2300KV.

I want to build a poor mans UDR that is capable of handling a trail.

To start off, as of now my plan is to purchase RC4WD OEM Stamped Wheels, 8mm hexes, and Mickey Thompson Baja MTZ P3 tires.
