RC Gear Shop stuff is pretty crap from Tower, it's just marked up Chinese stuff. Considering $50 for a 3S 5000mAh is also pretty expensive, I don't see those as being worth it.

Yeah I know it's pretty high compared to hobbyking or similar sights but I figured since I got 50 bucks to spend there I'd look. Already have a mamba x and slate 2850 on the way

Going to 35t and 10t pinion will help with run time but I've never heard of an ae5 cutting power at 3.8v. My only guess is voltage sag hitting lipo cut at 3.2v then you stop and it recovers back to 3.8v. When you check the volts after a run, are the cells around the same voltage?

Axial AE-5 ESC lvc is set at 3.7V per cell.

That explains that then. No matter now mamba x and 2850 slate motor are installed.
