Hitech 7954sh question

Hey crawlers recently purchased a hitech 7954sh and it says its rated for 6V or 7.4V i understand you can hook this too battery power but i use lipo and its only increments of 4.2v? So the next one up is 8.4 too much voltage:/.... Can someone explain what and how i need too wire this? If all else fails i have a novak 3A/6V bec i can wire up no probs...

Lipo is 3.7V per cell

7.4V is 2S

Yes you can run it straight off a 2 cell lipo. My 1.9 comp rig is set up with this servo in that manner.

2 cell lipo is nominally 7.4 volts, but max charge voltage is 8.4 v.

So u mean like running voltage is 7.4 but a static full charge is 8.4?

Just wire servo pos/neg to batt leads on esc i imagine? Comm from servo too reciever?

Most esc's have a internal bec, voltages vary so it should be fine at 8.4v but it is a 7.4v battery so you should be good! If your worried you can always wire up the bec but I see no need!

Yes, if you get glitching from the servo, you may want to tie the servo ground to the RX ground as well. Most seen with Spektrum radios, but can happen with any brand.

BTW, most "listed voltages" are "nominal voltages", thus a 2S LiPO is nominally 7.4VDC but is higher when fully charged.
