I'm looking at getting a new charger and a soldering station. I have a Hitec X1 ac plus. It has been a great little charger! But I'm wanting to upgrade. Some of my bigger lipos I'm not able to charge at 1c. I'm also wanting to get a soldering station as well. I've been using a cheap RadioShack soldering gun for years. I never really thought about a soldering station till I watched a video on the Hakko fx-888d soldering station. Looks like it makes a world of difference.

My question is will the soldering part of the charger work for as a dedicated soldering station? Or is more of a emergency in the field type use?

If anybody has any experience with this unit I'd appreciate your input."thumbsup"

Thanks!

Rich on rcn did a review on it. I have the x2 but don't use the iron. I have a hakko soldering station. I love the x2 and the WiFi adapter so you can do other things While charging.

I watched a few videos on YouTube. He did a unboxing and a soldering gun test. The test was just warming it up. It warmed up really quickly but I'd like to get some opinions on how well it works and how well the soldering portion has held up. I'm sure with it being Hitec it will work and hold up really well. It would be nice to kill 2 birds with one stone. Instead of buying two different units.

Good idea! I'll make sure to get the wifi adapter. Thanks!

Buy it from tower hobbies and if your not happy return it. Do get the WiFi adapter

I just checked tower hobbies return policy and they say that returned merchandise has to be unused and in the factory seal package....
I'll probable just end up ordering one. The soldering portion of the charger has to better than the RadioShack one I've been using...
And with it being a Hitec charger it's gotta be a great unit.

Tower has been known to waive the unused / factory sealed policy on occasion. If you're not happy just give them a call and they may work with you, but I doubt you'll return it, with it being Hitec.

I'm not a fan of "bundled" or 2-in-1 electronics. If one fails you usually lose two items. It's the same reason I don't buy modem and router combos, etc.
