Help choose CCW handgun

I have an XD45c and an XD9SC. I carry the 45c daily. It is a super smooth gun to shoot. Can't go wrong with it in my opinion and they are decently priced.

I have the Springfield XD-9 and XD-40. I have the high cap mag for the 9mm which holds 16+1. But the 40 hold 9 I do believe. I have to say I absolutely love the 40, it is by far my favorite pistol I own. they do have ext mags for them that will hold 13+1 IIRC.

Thanks for all the reply's everyone. "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

Xdm 3.8 40 Cal holds 11+1 with small mag and 16+1 with extended mag
ruger sp101. 357 holds 5

Too funny, I have a sp101 also. "thumbsup"

And I decided on the Springfield XDm 3.8 40 It's great that this thing holds 16 rounds.

An added bonus, Springfield is giving away three free additional magazines if purchased by November 30th.

Sold! I ordered it yesterday, can't wait to get it.

Should let me shoot it, compare to my M&P sometime:mrgreen:

A buddy of mine just bought 2 M&Ps over the weekend. I went to put my new AR in layaway. Anybody know anything about the low grade Henry lever action 22 LRs?

Went out shopping today... held a lot of differnt firearms... For me, the best fit was the HK P30 40S&W. So I had to get it. More than I wanted to spend, but it was hands down the best fit for this lefty.

New Gun

I went down to pick up my new handgun. And I ended up coming home with this:

I just loved my other Kimber so much I couldn't resist getting this one. It's a Kimber Pro Carry II .45

I've shot 150 or so rounds through it last weekend. Now I'm wanting to go shooting again.

So did you get that instead of the XDM or in addition to?

I picked up a 3.8XDM in 9mm, I love it. The 3 free mags deal pushed me over the edge. They said it'd take 6-8weeks for the mags, but I did the online form on a Monday and had the mags by that Friday.

Then I ordered my crossbreed holster for it, and they said 4-6 weeks on that, less than a week and a half later it arrived.

I still haven't shot it enough to make it my EDC, but the little I have shot it I am very impressed.

I ended up only getting the Kimber for right now.

I do like this 9 though, and it's amazing how many rounds will fit in their clips. Plus, 9 is pretty cheap to shoot.

How do you like the crossbreed holsters? I haven't tried one of those yet.

I've also been looking at the Ruger Super RedHawk Alaskan .44 mag for mountain carry when I'm in Idaho. There has been so many attacks from wolves there it's crazy.

I haven't wore the crossbreed holster enough to give a good review, but in the little I have I really like it. I have a few sidegurad holsters and really like them, they are all leather, not the leather/kydex of the crossbreed. I got the double tuck crossbreed and it is a good deal larger than either of my sideguard holsters. I'll try to snap some pics tonight.

Yea I knew I wanted the XDM 3.8 and thought about it for a while on which one to get, the 9mm or .40 and ultimately cheaper ammo was a major deciding factor. My current CCW is a .40 and only holds 9 rounds. So I went down in size, but more than doubled the capacity.

Cool.

With the new rounds out now. The ballistics show that you can have a 9mm thats really close to a .40 or .45. I just went with the kimber because I have shot them a lot, and love the trigger and action of a hammer gun. I do think for edc though, it's hard to beat the XDm, I'm sure I'll end up with one before too long. And for urban survival, 20 rounds ready to go, that's some serious fire power. "thumbsup"

You can't beat having 20 rounds ready to go.
No kidding! I didn't realize those held that many.

I carry my xd45c in a crossbreed super tuck every day and most of the time, I have to feel for it to see if its really there. It is super comfortable. They do take a little bit to get broke in, but once they do, they fit like a glove.

Consider a .357SIG
"thumbsup" Faster than a 9mm, hits like a .45! >357Sig is where it's at! Only other round I would take over my .357Sig would be a 10mm. 45 is nice and we all know it gets the job done but its bulky and not enough rounds in the magazine for me. I carry a Glock 32, compact .357Sig. 13 in the mag and one in the pipe to make 14rd's. I carry 15rd mags for spares.

I have a carbine large loop model. It is absolutely the favorite rifle I have ever owned. I would not trade it for anything. Incredibly accurate and works every time. I have been through thousands of rounds with it and haven't had more then 1 or 2 misfires. that is incredible for LR ammo. And i mostly use winchester bulk or CCI of some sort (mainly mini mags, occasional stingers). It has been by far the most reliable LR pistol or rifle I have owned. And I own or have owned multiple Savages, Marlins, Winchesters, Rugers, CZ's (very nice), and others that I have probably forgotten at the moment. Everyone I have ever let shoot my Henry has loved it and many have gone out and bought one after trying mine. Never had anyone dislike it. And they have by far the best customer service in the industry. Just look through "rimfirecentral.com" to see.

For ccw I use a glock 26. I shoot it very accurate for what it is. But it is chunky and you do notice that you are carrying it unless using a good holster. that is one of if not the most important thing in CCW. Having the right holster for you. That puts it where you need and can use it and fits you correctly. Many people over look this. Friend/co worker has a Kahr 40mm that I like the size and shape of better then my Glock. But it has far less capacity. But it is a much easier pistol to conceal.

I think if i were going to look at another ccw choice it would be something in a 2 inch or so 357. I have shot them enough that I can be accurate as needed with the type of revolver. It is a short range weapon for sure. but the reliability and shape of a snubbie Ruger or SW is very doable. A bit heavier then many pistols but doable. Plus the 357 is a good round. And you can run 38's in it for cheaper shooting and still good protection. My Fiance can not rack the initial round in my 26. being as short as the slide is and the heavy rack effort (easy for me) she needs a revolver. Just point and shoot as the saying goes. I first got into pistols but have been growing more and more fond of revolvers. I have been eying an Ruger sp101 2 inch 357 at one of my job sites for a while now. Just haven't pulled the trigger yet:lmao: . I think it will be my next purchase in firearms.

I love Ruger revolvers. I have the SP101 in 2.25 .357, it's been a great gun. I also have the GP100, fun to shoot, but too big to carry. I would like to get an LCR too. So many guns to want.
