Heated pet bed tech

Looking for proven heating that can be trusted when we're not at home.

Bought a hairless kitty and he's usually under a blanket when we're home but find him lightly shaking when we come home from work.

I've Googled and read reviews for 2 evenings now. Appreciate the heads up but was hoping some of the crawler nerds had a little crazy cat guy im them and tried these products. Seems like our electronic standards are higher than the general public (novak users not included)

How about just leaving blankets laying out (assuming you're not worried about someone breaking in, stealing them and committing a crime with them)?

My parents in law have one of those Cheeeeeewawa's that looks like it has no hair. They constantly leave blankets on the couch and the dog just buries itself in them. IDK maybe cats are different...

Found some duel-climate beds that stay 2* warmer than ambient and warm to 109* when a cat lays in it. Seems like some gimic shit and the reviews are by ladies that make sweaters out of cat fur. Not really sure these reviews apply to me.

He buries himself when there's a heat source under it but si far we haven't found him under a blanket without that. Maybe I'll throw some in his beds to see if they're moved and take it from there.

14 weeks old so he's got more energy than brains right now. Would normally say fawk it but he's sneezing more and more and it's been down to the low 40's at night so we're hoping this will help narrow down the reasons.

Vet appointment on Monday. I'll ask for a cat lady sweater while we're there.

Do you keep the cat outside? If not why is it 40* in your house?

You live in Minnesota, what's going to happen to the cat when it gets like -100 and 20ft of snow?

Indoor only. If he does get outside the breeder can take the cat back.

We rent a 109 year old apartment and legally the land lord doesn't need to turn the heat on until mid October. Ceilings are 12ft high and windows are old as fawk. Don't trust space heaters but I'm hoping a pet bed is safer. Probably pretty stupid to assune that but here we are.

Gotcha. That seem's oddly ridiculous that you have no control over the heat until a certain time, especially in your climate zone. The only 2 apartments I've ever lived in you could turn the heat on in mid July if you wanted to.

Sounds like either a space heater of some sort or heated electrical pad would be in order at least for another month or so.

What do you do for heat for yourself if you don't use space heaters, or do you just not like leaving them on when you're gone?

I usually use this time to get acclimated to cold weather but I've found I've been warming the house with a gas stove since this little guys arrival.

Gonna try a heating pad in existing beds and maybe use my hyperion to run it with a temp shut off. Ghetto rigged but I trust it more than non grounded outlets.

Check out seedling heat mats from Hydrofarm. I leave mine on for my "pets" while not at home. Of course my pets don't chew though.:ror:

I would go to Deek & Bryans Next Adventure (used outdoor store.) and buy a good used sleeping bag for kitty.

Its a warm blooded animal so it needs only good insulation to be warm.

Get kitty some little sweatshirts.

I am not a fan of electric fire starters in my house (just my opinion.)

I heated my house with an electric oven & the dryer vent for a winter once.

He has a 7 year old companion that hasn't accepted his energy level a complete lack of respect/ fear. It'll eventually happen but today is not that day.

Not a fan of sweaters but the fire starter comment is valid. We will look into more options before committing.


Left him some blanket forts today and the girlfriend found him in one. Will continue to do this and see how it goes.

Get an army surplus wool blanket from sportsmans guide or buy locally. Wool will keep the cat warm and no electricity to mess with, if the cat gets cold enough it will lay on the blanket.
