Hairba11 makes a Flexus. F100-LS400 mashup.

Thanks guys. I’ve got a couple hundred miles on it now. It rides like a truck. I’ve got to do an alignment and chase some rattles and creaks.

So I finally had a nice day to play.

I got the window regulator, speaker box and computer from the Lexus driver’s door installed in the Ford door.

Then I got the inner door structure added onto the inside of the Ford door too.

The Ford door latch is a push, and the Lexus handle is a pull, so I whipped up a little reverser

A little testing to get the front to back spacing correct.

I got the switches installed and now the power shoulder height adjuster works and the column power adjusts in when you remove the key to help you exit.

Even the door panels. This is next level. I absolutely love the high end Japanese 90s meets retro domestic vibe.

Got some miles on it yet? How's it drive?

Good looking truck hairba11!

I gotta ask, what gave you the idea to put the Lexus motor in it?

Also, amazing dentside in the background! I’d love to have a 79. Funny thing is, I found one that just sat in the guys yard weeds all grown around it. I went up there one day and asked him about it and if he’d want to sell it. It was a 79 F250 2wd with the 351 in it. Dash read 77k. Had a dump bed on it, but it was rusted pretty bad. He wanted $1000. It was hard to pass lol. Ended up finding & buying a 97 f450 2 weeks later with 96k miles. Had the 460 in it.

Anyway, nice trucks man!

I’ve got about 300 miles on it so far. I’m getting around 17mpg with it.

My original plan was finding an early 80’s crown Vic, yanking out the 302/c4 and throwing in a 302/aod and calling it a day.
But I couldn’t find any crown vics that weren’t going for $2000+.
So I was talking to a friend and he suggested the Lexus v8.
I was hesitant because wiring nightmares. But then a friend of his had this one come up for $600 no title.
I figured if I moved the entire harness over it solves the wiring problems.
And the Toyota trans would give me the overdrive.
And the truck had manual brakes and recirculating ball steering and twin I beam, so moving the front subframe over would give me control arm and strut front end with bigger brakes and rack and pinion steering
And the cab floor was rusty and the Lexus gauges would have to be used. And the bench seat was pretty rough.
So I used the floor and firewall and dash and power brakes and the Lexus floor shift instead of column shift and then the heated power leather seats.
And if you upgrade the front suspension then you might as well upgrade the rear suspension too…

And here we are.

Now instead of a truck that works and looks ok, I have something that makes me say, “this thing is so freaking cool”

I got the passenger door done today.
I also got new window track guide and weather strip as well as sound deadening foam inside the doors so they should ka-thunk instead of clunk-rattle-rattle.

Now that I’m a few hundred miles into it not spontaneously falling apart on the road, I’m updating some of the 25yo/200k mile parts. New upper control arms, bushings, ball joints and tie rod ends up front. Still collecting parts for the rear.

Been a while since I put some work in on this. I reused a couple of markers that were dangling behind the valance and moved them to the bed rail edges.

I also picked up some of the KC Daylighters and made roll bar brackets for them. I got them wired into the Lexus rear window defroster button on the dash.

Another update!
I managed to find a driver’s side fender in a salvage yard on a truck that rolled and burned.

So I put it on. The previous owner replaced missing bed nuts with booger welds so it took about 3 hours and some replacement hardware.

I also located a set of 15x10 Appliance TurboVec wheels and had to do a little work to fit them over the 4 piston calipers while adapters had to get the 5x114.3 to 5x5.5” job done.

Since the Appliance wheels use mag style nuts I pressed out the studs and turned the adapters on the lathe at work to make them hubcentric with the wheels.

This thing looks right.

This thing looks sick! I need to find a driverside fender that style as well. The one on lil b is made for the spare to hang up at the front of the bed. U happen to have any runnin video of this beast?
