i ordered 2 elite 4800 25c packs and the elite 5i bc. i read the instructiopns a couple of times but iam confused about what to set the charger at for charging the packs.

i was told that you charge at 1 amp for ever 1000 mah of the pack by a friend. so for a 4800 i would charge at 4.8 amps ? but if i understood the instructions to the charger correctly i should charge at half of the packs capacity ? which would be 2.4 amps ??

also i never read anything about if it was ok to hook the charger up to a power supply, i have a 14amp power supply, would that be ok to charge with.

also should i buy a lipo sack...sorry for all the questions, i just want to be safe.

thanks for the help.

**EDIT**

this is the part from the instructions that isnt to clear to me...

Lithium polymer battery program
These programs are only suitable for charging and discharging Lithium-polymer batteries with a
nominal voltage of 3.7V/cell.These batteries need to adopt different charge techniques and are
termed a constant voltage (CV) and constant current (CC) method. The charge current varies
according to the battery capacity, and is usually C/2 rate (half capacity as a charge current). The
final voltage of the charge process is also very important. It should be 4.2V/cell for the nominal
voltage of 3.7V/cell. If the final voltage exceeds 4.2V you may be risking the chance of fire or
explosion of the battery. This is why it is important to set the correct Lipo program before you
begin charging. If you want to alter the parameter value in the program, press “Start Enter “key to
make it blink then change the value with “DEC” or “INC” key. The value can be stored by pressing
“Start Enter” key once more.

I charge my 2100 mah lipo at .90 amps takes about an hour but it gets a full charge. I do have mine charging in a lipo sack it also helps when carrying it in the car id buy one for safety. charge it at 2 and be safe. do you have a balance charger? or a balancer? Im new to lipo as well but have learned alot on this webiste and others

the elite 5i bc has a built in balancer.

do you know the math at which you calculate what to charge at ?

I have the same batteries and charger. With advise that I have received from Nluv on lipo's you can safely charge those packs at 1c which would be 4.8 amps. You'll notice the charger will automatically lower the amps through the charging cycle until it's peaked.

Make sure your on the Lipo balancing charge mode and plug in both your balancing plug and the Deans plug into the charger and also use the temp probe to make sure the pack does not over heat.

I charge my Elite 4800 2s packs at 4amps and the packs always peak at higher then 4800Mah.

I just recieved mine today, and am currently charging it right now at 1amp. I've done this will all my packs for the first charge. I also have other Lipo's and it will always charge at 1C (1amp per 1000mah), with no problems. You don't need a Lipo sack for charging if you follow the instructions for charging. I transport all mine in my tech bag and never had any issues at all.

thanks guys for your help. it is greatly appreciated.

badger ,what do you set the temp at for the probe ?

what are you guys running your lipos in ? do you think buying a hard case kit is a good idea ? im running mine in my sash and it takes a beating.

thanks again.

I set my temp for the probe to 30c, not sure if that is correct or not.

I'm running my lipo packs in my Slash and you would have a hard time abusing your Slash more then mine has been abused (short of running it over with a car).

When you done running your Slash hard make sure you check out the pack for excessive heat, swelling, and leaks (pretty much the same thing after sex).
