california under the rock im crawling on
i had a idea about a kinda themed build nothing too fancy it
will be based around a gen7 body cause it fits the theme and i kinda like it

ill be running scx10ii alloy axles i ordered the silver ones for alittle bling lol its gona be pretty plain looking but im hoping it will hold its own performance wise

im gona make my own chassie on this one the plan is to cross a lcg style chassie with a trx4 chassie i plan to merge the two in cad " card board design " and cut with my ultra high end super safisticated machinary "sawsall blade with tape wraped around the base " cut out of 1/4 inch hdpe plastic

ill use one of the $16 aluminum 3 gear trans a new rain esc and a holms 13t motor

thats about as far as i got with the plan so far

as of right now im waiting for parts ill update once the parts start coming in

so far i have about $70 in to this build
so far aluminum 3 gear in hand $16
custom lcg chassie $0
2 alloy scx10ii axle housings 34
1.9 aluminum wheels 20
the body will be another $52
im guessing once im all done it will be close to the cost of a gen7 pro but it will have all the upgrades i want for the same price lol

my orders seem to have all arived at the same time as of right now there sitting at the post office wait8ng to be picked up
i should be able to make good progress this week

that roof rack is really heavy im gona have to try and lighten it up some ill probably swap out the spare rim with a fake 1.9 style steelie with the back cut off i only need the face so that will eliminate some weight then ill try to lighten the accesories too and there looks like theres some room to lighten up.the rack itself also
i wish i had a scale to weight the differance but i dont so ill just keep the cut off parts in a pile and see if theres any real differance there lol

i got the front axle mocked in place i wanted to 4 link the front but i couldent find a decent spot for the upper link so 3 link it is
i mounterd up 2 redcat tires i only had 2 new ones
i would post some pics but at this point its starting to look like a gen 7
so thats where the name came from
the sleeper
looks like a stock gen7 on the outside but underneeth its a custom lcg scx10ii lol

That plastic is pretty flexible ain't it? I know stiffness ain't too big of a deal in crawlers but this is an interesting build nonetheless.

actually its pretty stiff ive made several other chassise out of it before and never have had a issue with it flexing
besides once there are a few braces installed it stiffens right up and its a 1/4" thick its no carbon fiber or steel but its real easy to work with and cheap well free cause i have a bunch of this stuff laying around but cutting boards are cheap especially if you find one at a thrift store or something lol

old school i know but they still work good

i call them my I.E.D. chassies or "improvised electronic device" chassie lol

HDPE as a bonus (or not in some cases) will slide over everything as the frame rail, skid plates, sliders, etc. It is easy to cut, shape, drill. It isn’t hard to bend but uniformity of two pieces gets a little tougher. I would hand drill and use 1.4 screw the pieces together

i found a old redcat motor in my stash so i pulled it apart lubed it up and resealed it and its running smooth so in it went it is a red cat after all lol
shocks are on there way and i should be ordering the rear axle parts vary soon tires and esc might have to wait till i can get more fundihg but its almost there

i found a good deal on 5 tires and rims new takeoffs so ill have 7 tires now lol and 6 brand new wheels
the axle parts are on there way so now all i need is a esc and driveshafts and gears

so far the build total is around 180 with the new parts i just ordered
esc another 15
driveshafts im guessing will be 30 and gears another 20 and that should be it
so it looks like around 250 with extra parts left over so i was able to build a full custom with all the hop up parts i would have used even if i bought it new and then upgraded but i dident spend all that money on stock parts i dident need and will still come in under budget

super service gets a rear bumper with hitch
also the gears and driveshafts are on there way
im upgrading another rig and will be recycling some things
the esc and maybe the servo i could save some dough and fix 2 birds with one buy

Looking nice. 8-32 links?

there 5/32 there easyer to thread in to the rod ends i use 8/32 on bigger rigs or if i bend the 5/32
the 8/32 still fits inside the stainless sleave and its alot stronger but not needed for every rig
