im running a 55 turn motor and 87 spur gear and 14 pinion gear but it just seems to slow im just wondring what everyone else is running.

running the goat with 12 and 89 metal gears still not slow enough but plenty of wheel speed when i need it, running a 2cell lipo also had it set up with 3cell 11.1 but was to much i dont like so much wheel speed........P III

im running a goat with a 18/87 stock. i can make it go so slow it would take 30 seconds to move an inch, and crazy wheel speed when needed.
i also run a rooster with a 14/87. also very slow, but not as much wheel speed. may try a 17 or 19 on it.

really the only way to keep the needed torque and get wheelspeed would be to volt up or step up to a 35t or 45t motor. I like my stup alot. I ru n a 35t handwound with 9.6v and 16/87 gearing. What esc are you running? That will be a big deciding factor on what way to go."thumbsup"

I'm running 10 pinion and 93 spur-10 cell from holmes hobbies-12 volts sure wakes up a 55t motor! FX R esc. Matt

how much voltage are you running?

I runn 14/87 w/ a 55t on 9.6v and it works pretty good, but I still want a lil more wheel speed........HHH 35T here i come :D

The cheapest way to get a little more wheel speed for now would be a slightly bigger pinion. The more teeth, the faster you go... but you loose a little torque and runtime. The next cheapest ways are to either buy bigger batteries (voltage) if your ESC can handle it, or a lower turn motor. Between a 35-45 as stated above. I wouldn't go down to a 35 turn unless it was handwound though."thumbsup"

45t 17/87 2s 2200 mah lipo great wheel speed and about 40 min run time with excessive dig use and my BEC set at 6v."thumbsup"

i decited to get a 45 turn motor so i can run 14/87 and for now i went with a 18/87 settup for my 55 turn to see how it runs. theres one spot i get hung up on at my local crawling spot that i just dont have enuf wheel speed. i do come in 2 to 4th everytime but that one hill gets me. i noticed the trucks that make it have more wheel speed than me. im running a novak crawler esc with a 1320 2s lipo

That is why I will only run 3s from here on out. With 3s even a 75t motor has wheel speed. here is a vid of my current setup 45t 3s 1900 mah lipo RC4WD R2D II with a 13 tooth pinion ti's ratio is 53.9:1. An AX-10 with 14/87 gears has a ratio of 52.07:1 So the ratios will be very close. So you will see the
differance the pack will make.

for those of you running larger than stock pinions, what spurs are you running? I see robinson racing is coming out with a 48p 87t spur, does anyone else sell a steel or aluminum spur for the ax10?

I'm running a HH 30T Handwound, with a 15/87 gear set up, with a 3s 2200mah lipo set up. and this thing is fast, a little too fast. I have it limited in the radio to about 55% forward speed. I am probably going to be going down to a 13t Pinion, for a little more torque.

what spur is a direct fit for the axial tranny? I can't seem to find any other "DP" pinions other than the stock 14t so I am switching to a 48p spur and a 16t pinion.
