Ftx 1/24 outback mini scale crawler

Alright, so here's the deal. The sumo uses a gear head motor for gear reduction. The problem is the motor is a little underpowered, and there are no really good replacement options. The Orlandoo motors are even smaller. All adequately powered gear head motors have a 4mm output shaft, micro's use a 3mm so you would have to reduce the output shaft somehow. And then there's the need for a transfer case. There is no micro transfer case available on the market, however one can be made out of a Sumo transmission. All this being said, it can be done. However, that's ALOT of work just for the sake of a slightly more scale axle. Although I do like to combine a Losi transmission with Sumo Axles for a nice little go-fast rig so I do love a ring and pinion axle! "thumbsup"

Just retrofitted the Ambush body on my Sumo crawler. Got RC4WD super swamper tires (tall and scale!) and RC4WD steel beadlock rims. Got it going on 2s lipo. I did have to use 2mm fuel tubing to extend the body posts out and also used the tubing as shock limiters to give more scale suspension travel and torque steer. AWESOME performance and looks. (Sorry to post on an FTX thread, but couldn't resist). The FTX and ECX look good but suspension looks very bouncy.
