I wonder how the dimensions will work with the plastic 1/24 scale bodies. Did a quick look and width wise seems to be pretty good for many of the revell model trucks

The sumo crawler is also listed as 105mm wide, really too wide for 1/24 stuff. Will work for 1/20 though.

Looks like it could be a winner. The body is junky, but easily replaced.

Same chassis, but much better body IMHO. Tires are different as well. The FTX tires look better to me.

They look pretty good. I do like the Exc body but I didn’t really it the video. Looks like a great scale base to start from.

It looks like they actually triangulated the 4 link, unlike the 1/24 ECX Temper. Cool little truck.

Just watched the Barrage video. It needs to be geared down a lot for any good crawling.

Copied my post from the FB group.
"Saw this the other day. Looks like it will be the same wheelbase as a Losi Trail Trekker and the same width as a sumo crawler, but the 310mm length (over 12 inches) seems like a typo.
Those diff pumpkins look large so hopefully it has lower axle gearing via larger gears than the Sumo and Mini Gelande.

The tires will be 1 or 2 mm shorter than the losi Micro Crawler which would make them the shortest micro crawler tire available, where most are about the height of the Trail trekker.

It says "80s style body" but the body definitely looks closer to a 90s Toyota with at most 80s Toyota fender flares.

Can't help but suggest an alternative: Get a Proline Ambush body and retrofit it either on this truck or on any 1/24 truck/crawler you might already have.

The reason companies like Proline, Losi, and ECX use worm gears at this scale is to make them slow enough to crawl. Otherwise with ring and pinion geared axles your left with a vehicle with too much speed to have enough control to crawl. Then, like stated above, your left looking for ways of gearing down. Which options are very limited at this scale.

Exactly what I always say. Worm gears may not be scale looking, but at this size especially with micros you get much lower gearing in the axle and it's much smoother. To get that much reduction in a micro ring and pinion you'd need a huge pumpkin. This is why all the ring and pinion micro axles are comparatively higher geared.

A geared motor like in the Orlandoo would work if it was attached to a transfer case. Forward mount the motor while you're at it.

X2 and the tires are smaller diameter so should be ok with proper setup? Might need larger spur gear?

Did I miss something? The Sumo uses ring & pinion axles and is comparable in speed and power to worm gear axles, remember, there is reduction at the transmission too... the benefit I see to worm geared axles is that you can get by with a cheap ESC that doesn't have a drag brake.

Axle reduction isn't always the same as as reduction at the transmission. That's why people swap axle gears in 1/1 and larger RC like 1/10
IMO while I like both the Sumo and losi, I don't find them to be similar as far as crawling.
