This build thread is long over due. My 41st birthday was last October 2017. My son Gavin, who was 15 years old at that time, created this 1.9 Ultra4 for my birthday gift. Gavin has taught himself to TIG weld and created this chassis from 3/16 DOM steel. Many of you have met Gavin at competitions over the last decade + I've been involved with RC rock crawling. For those that have not, Gavin has been involved in RC since his childhood with his first Losi Mini T at age 2. At 8 years old, Gavin finished 56th at the USRCCA National Championship, after qualifying through the LCQ / Last Chance Qualifier for entry. Gavin is 16 as of this posting and Ayala Metal Works is his creation.

Introducing "Forty One";

That is awesome!!! So now he will be producing these ? If so pm me on the info please.

Although Forty One isn't 100% finished, it is together and running. As most of you that build know, a project is never really finished.

More pictures of Forty One;

This lexan interior came in a customer lot, so I don't know what kit it's from. It was cut down and narrowed to fit the cockpit. It still needs to be painted and detailed.

There is no doubt where the inspiration for this build came from and that is Ultra4 Racing:

I can only imagine how incredibly proud you are of this kid... Such talent, motivation, and discipline. And since these kinds of accomplishments are generally a direct result of solid parenting: "Congratulations!" to you and he both.

Thank you for the kind words"thumbsup"

His mother and I are definitely happy that Gavin is pursuing knowledge and new challenges. Gavin is far advanced for his age, especially when compared to myself at that age:oops:.

The beginning of Forty-One...
The idea behind this chassis was to have an ultra 4 looking chassis,but with a rockcrawler heart.

That is quite a first post to the forum Gavin. Welcome to RCC. Although you have always been connected to RCC through me, it's quite surreal to see you now posting on your own. My first post to this forum over a decade ago was a question about a cut n shut tire and I got flamed for it, LOL. Clearly something in life must be working out well for that to be your first post. Well done son. "thumbsup"

And thank you very much for this heart felt birthday gift Gavin. It means a great deal to me and I am proud of you son. Thank you for making the most of your talents, time, and self. You and your sister are by far my greatest creations and joy.
