When you watch him flip the wheel back and forth your opinion may be in peril.
Ok, just watched the video. Here's my thoughts.
- Yeah it sucks that there's no mechanical lock on the swivel, but there seems to be enough friction resistance to prevent it from flopping around. There might be notches at the end of each swivel that does a friction lock, but we can't tell in the video. Whether it gets worse with time, who knows. I'd be one to just set and forget it to the side I use.
- I don't like the way (method) the battery attaches/detaches, BUT.... I do like the fact that the whole base is a battery pack. This opens up a lot of potential for different sized battery pack/base, and just hot swapping them. Hot swapping??? see next thought.
- Pretty cool that the TX unit itself holds a charge as well as the battery/base. Does this mean that you can hot swap a battery while the TX stays on? Hmmmmm....
- I hope you can turn off those indicator lights full time on the battery and the back of the TX. Not a fan of too many lights shining. They mentioned you could change the color, but I'd want it off full time.
- The TX interface is cool. It looks like they'd be able to easily provide software updates to improve on functionality should they commit to doing so, as it now acts more like a mobile OS app.
Overall, I think I'd give it a shot. I'm not very rough on my stuff at all, so if that battery mounting mechanism holds up... I'd try it out.
Maybe this was created with on-road cars in mind, where people aren't strolling along with their cars over challenging terrain.
