i am starting a crewcab dropbed f-350 build based off the scx10ii chassis. my intentions are to build it as a tow rig and eventually get a trailer to pull my yeti or my sons scx10ii along. this is a ground up build, using parts from wherever i can get the parts i want, mostly off rpphobby.com. i intend this to be a scale type build. this is my first time ever attempting something of this nature. here it goes. i'm buying things as i think i need/want them. and didnt forgot to take more pics of before

starting off with the cab. i purchased 3 tamiya high lift bodies, and some sheets of styrene. cut up the first 2 to create the crewcab portion, then used the 3rd body to finish roof. added in some styrene and bonded then roof together on the inside. sanded and then applied bondo to the outside trying to smooth the roof and seems the best i could.(not 100% happy with the way it came out, but hey its my first time). let bondo dry and sanded it all down. Onto primer and paint. i used some duplicolor self etching green primer. sanded a little bit, off to paint. just used some paint i had left over, thinking it would look great, but it came out ok. (its not my first time painting) used duplicolor ford engine blue. masking off front fenders and painting them white.

starting with the bed. i cut the first one. cutting the bed floor out. using some .030 styrene, i began making the sides and front . now i know that the stock bed is tapered in the rear, and i did not want that look.didnt get alot of pictures of the bed.

havent worked on the bed for a while. will get back onto it soon.
started on the chassis. picked up a cheap set of scx10ii frame rails off ebay. purchased a boom racing rear chassis brace. picked up stock shock towers and center skid off a member on here, and also purchased axial frame brace set off rpphobby. for hardware, i've been getting m3 hardware from my local orchard supply. purchased 1/2" c channel aluminum stock to make the extension on the frame i need. left the extesnion long, until i get the body mounted. ordered a pair of gcm 3d printed ar44 leaf spring perches on shapeways.com and went to rpphobby and picked up:

rc4wd leaf spring shackle kit
SSD pro44 rear axle
tamiya high lift f350 leaf springs
yeah racing hd shackles

again didnt get a whole lot of picutes that i wanted

thats about where im standing now, havent decided if i want to leave front coil sprung or swap to leaf sprung(seeing as how i have the parts)

the extension is just a band aid fix for old threads, we shouldn't be starting new threads that have to rely on a 3rd party fix to make sure the thread works when there's other options out there that work on their own. what happens when photobucket wises up to these extensions and has them shut down/closes the loophole they're exploiting? not to mention some of us can't install browser extensions on our work computers :(

Redoing the frame extensions. I dont know if i wanna leaf the front or keep it linked..also haven't decided what drivetrain i wanna run. Im interested in the ssd scale trans setup...but idk bout $200 to do it. Like i said my intentions for this rig are mainly scale/tow rig..

Took some brass tubing of 2 different sizes to make spacers/bushings for the leaf spring swing shackles. First picture shows the smaller brass tube fits in the shackles perfect. Can spin inside with just about no slop.along with showing the bigger brass tube to act as a spacer. Also the m3 screw still fits.

Front shock tower mounted up for now. Leafs are just mocked up. Not permanent. Still trying to decide if I wanna keep leaf springs or do links with radius arms like the 1.1 trucks

Decided to link it and try making actual 1:1 style lower arms

Made a little progress today. I received my vanquish ar44 lower link mounts. Bolted them up to a ssd pro44 front housing with stock c hubs (for now) made my own lower links. Using traxxas rod ends, all thread couple thin washers(take up the slop in the mounts) and 2 different size of brass tubing. The brass tubing i used 2 different sizes and sleeved them together to make it a little more smooth transition from the rod ends to the brass tubing.. the tubing feels pretty solid. Used a stock upper 3 link amd panhard bar (for now) to mock everything up. As for shocks. I ordered some hot racing internal spring shocks 100mm to see how i like the stance of the framefor mock up ..... primarily ordered them for my yeti.

Got my hr 100mm internal spring shocks in today. Mocked them up. Thinking that 100mm may be a little to much. These are for my yeti. So i might either buy 90mm of these or 4link the front. Not sure. Since im trying to stay sorta scale for a f350

Just a rough mock up.not sure if im liking the "cali lean." Due to the fact they are 100mm shocks in front. Probably gona try the stock rtr shocks to see if i like that height better. Have some 70mm shocks for the rear coming from durfeec.. and bed will be slightly higher. Im gonna mount the bed to the chassis, separate from the cab. Haven't decided if im gonna try to make a interior of just leave that for complete last. Debating on getting the ssd forward mounted trans for it..im always open to suggestions or ideas. Whats the best way to mount a hardbody? Dont really want to do magnets

Heres a mockuo with stock scx10.2 trail honcho front shocks.i like this better. Unsure if i like the wheel/tire size due to the look of the rear.stock 1.9x4.7 wheel/tire. Thinking maybe either 1.7 or 1.55 wheels with 4.5 or smaller tire. Wheel base on axle to axle shaft stubs is 14 7/16 inch or 366mm. Wheel base on the body is 14 ½ or 367mm. Dont really think 1mm is worth changing the front links. Bed will be painted blue also when its complete.

Yeah ERC AKA "The Scale King" sucks. Their 3D printed products are really low quality and they have more steps than the Statue of Liberty. Look elsewhere. Did you check Shapeways and eBay?

Ya. Im not seeing much in the way of a scale f350 motor or scale components let alone for the f350

Not sure what size tire would look.best. the size in the pics are 1.9x4.7. ive been looking Around at tires on rpp and Leaning towards a 4.2ish tire. Maybe stick with 1.9 or 1.7.

Really like these ssd wheels. Think they would look amazing. 1.9 only tho. Really only wheel i like on rpp

Started over on the bed. Using gearhead rc black 0.30 styrene.made the bed square,so the tail gate is to narrow now. Delema now is, do i get a second tailgate and graph the 2 together or try to make or find something like that spare tire carrier pic.. also dont know if i should bolt the bed to cab or mount separately
