So, I’ve seen a lot of people using the rubber band hack, or pen spring hack.
For some reason, I never liked the idea of opposing springs…I feel the spring rate might be more progressive than optimal (I could clearly be wrong here).
So I was thinking: “Other than buying new springs, how else could we reduce the preload on the front end of my Gatekeeper?”.
So i figured, why not just remove the spring preload adjuster?
So i did that, and so far, im pretty happy with the results. While it doesn’t bottom out on its own weight, it does sit a bit lower.
This should make it an even better climber.
The front always seemed a bit stiff, and this helped reduce that.
It still articulates as well as ever, if not better, even with the sway bar.
Might be useless, but i like experimenting without spending money [emoji23]
I also added 2 turns of length to the rear upper control arms, pointing the input to the diff much more directly at the transfer case.
This used to stick out farther than the trailing arms. Now its tucked in better and more protected.
