Rock Crawler
After much anticipation and fanfare we are proud to announce the 2011 ECRCC Scale Rules.
These rules will be used at all ECRCC Scale Events. If you participate in the point series please read carefully. WE have written these rules to encourage a diverse group of rigs and driving styles..Enjoy.
ECRCC Scale Rules - Rig Guidelines/Specifications
Four Wheel Steer and Dig not allowed. If your rig has either you will need to remove it or "lock it out" to the judges satisfaction. Driveline disconnect to the front axle only (simulating rearwheel drive/front freewheel or full time 4 wheel drive) is allowed.
1.0 BODY
Body must be used. Body to be 1/14th scale or greater and retain 80% of its original form (judges decision is final). Drivers may provide photos of the 1:1 rig that is being replicated.
In the event of a metal or plastic tubed back half - 80% of the Cab must remain (so you could remove the doors and that would be it) and the tubed bed area must be big enough to lay a full size spare flat (same size as the rig runs).
In the event of a flatbed the flatbed must extend over some part of the tires (width). The bed area must be large enough to hold a full size spare tire flat (same size as the rig runs).
1.1 BUMPERS
Bumpers must be present. Bumpers should be attached to the chassis. Bumpers must also be wider than the framerails. Please see Section 1.2 WHEELBASE for further clarification. Tires may not protrude past front/rear bumpers. Framerails/tube frames that extend beyond the tires are not considered bumpers
1.2 WHEELBASE
Wheelbase is determined by the body’s fender wells. Tires must be centered within fender wells, +/- 1/4 inch.
In the event of a tubed backhalf or flatbed the center line of the axle may not prodrute beyond the end of the tubing or flatbed. See Section 1.3 TIRES for further clarification.
Ammendment 1.2a-- Any box stock Tamiya kit will be allowed to run in Scale. This is being added due to the fact that some box stock kits do not fall within ECRCC's original rules. It should also be noted that the judges decision will be final.
1.3 TIRES
Tires may not extend beyond the front and rear bumpers. Tires must also be partially covered by fenders. In the event of a tubed backhalf the front fenders must cover some portion of the front tires. Only Approved tires may run. Cut/Modified tires allowed.
1.4 TIRE DIMENSIONS
Maximum inner diameter = 2.2 inches
Maximum tire height = 4.75 inches
*Tire height will be measured with the rig supporting its own weight on all four tires. Measurement will be performed on a flat surface with a standard measuing device that will measure height from ground surface to uppermost surface of the tire (all tires must pass this requirement)
1.5 APPROVED TIRES
All manufacturers 1.9 or 1.55 tires, approved 2.2 Cut/Modified tires allowed
The following tires are also approved (some may need to be cut to fit the height rule: HPI: Geolanders RC4WD: Crazy Krawler, Gauntlet, Mudslingers, Outcroppers, Rock & Die, Rock Crushers, Rock Stompers, Rock Lox, Spooky Krawler. Junfac: Bighorns. Imex: Swamp Dawgs, All-T's, Rubicons, G-Hawgs. Integy: ECR2, ECR3, ECR4, ECR5. Axial: Rock Lizards. Proline: Moabs, Badlands, Hammers, Mashers, Masher 2000, FlatIrons
1.6 CHASSIS
Chassis must consist of two frame rails (comprised of a right and left side). Overall frame length must be at least 3 inches longer than the wheelbase of the rig.
1.5 MOTOR/TRANSMISSION
Vehicle is powered by a electric motor(s) directly or indirectly powering a SINGLE central transmission or transfer casewhich sends power to both axles.
1.6 BATTERY
Must be mounted on/in chassis. Battery may not be placed on axle.
1.8 WINCHING
+1 penalty for winching - Winching begins when the driver declares winching and unhooks the winch line. Winching ends when the winch line is respooled and reattached to the winching vehicle.
Example A:
Someone unspools ...... hooks something on the ground .... winches up ....... unhooks the winch......unspools again....hooks a new location on the ground..... winches up again ........ +1 penalty, no forward movement/progress was made in between winch points.
Example B:
Someone unspools ...... hooks something on the ground .... winches up ....... unhooks the winch......DRIVES THEIR RIG 1-2 INCHES..... unspools again....hooks a new location on the ground..... winches up again ........ +2 penalty, FORWARD movement/progress was made in between winch points.
2.0 - COURSE CONSTRUCTION
