Dukes of Hazzard the Movie Rant

 You guys crack me up. Ya I grew up with the Dukes too and watched it every chance I got, even built a couple of the MPC Dodge Charger model kits, and Daisy's Jeep, never got hold of Cooter's tow truck though. Anyways, this was an extremely hokey TV show, and this movie is also going to be extremely hokey, a perfect fit IMO. I can't beleive you guys take this so seriously, you're as bad a trekkies. I'm gonna go see the movie, looks like fun no matter how faithful it is or isn't to the TV series.

David

wrap that up, I'll eat it at home

I don't care for the casting either (sp) but I must see it. I feel obbligated due to the fact that at the very least they didn't change the general. Willy rocks, simpson is hot, Knox can kiss my butt and Scott is to stupid for the part of Bo. But the general needs us to keep the faith. I also agree that Devito would have been a better Hog. I also agree that Good ol' Waylon is realy Pissed off somewhare out there at the butchering of his classic. (no disrespect to Willy, I'm sure it's not his fault.)

Well I guess I will join the bandwagon of people that Are not going to see the movie. as some of you did , I grew up watching the tv show.
From what I have seen and heard it isnt much like the show.

Rap in the Theme Song? That Crap dont belong in The Dukes.
Jessica Simpson, Yeah shes Hot. But I dont feel she a great fit for the part. I may be wrong.

I wont pay to watch it, Im sure I can download it in time :)

She's blonde HELLO!!!!

Daisy was BRUNETTE!! NOT BLONDE. But then again, is Jessica REALLY blonde? Hmmmmm....................

Might wait to see it on Indemand on TV then......I use to see the car haulers coming out of Decker Cyn/ Carlisle Cyn in the Santa Monica Mtns. with 3-4 jumped Chargers all the time back when they were filming the original series near were I grew up in Westlake Village, CA in the 70's /80's. I also used to ride BMX bikes at the building facades of the Boars Nest, Dukes houses, etc.....today they are building a 2nd Golf Course for Sherwood Country Club on the site in the canyon. Now Tiger Woods can jump his crappy Buicks there instead.

i just plain and simple think by the fact they made it into a movie makes it crap...
it dont matter who plays who or how many mopars they kill... its crap.

i'm just waiting for 'knight rider the movie'....

Just in case you still felt like watching this movie, here is a quote from a review on msn.com.

"It seems a stretch, especially as Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott play the dimwit cousins, who are "closer than brothers" and demonstrate it by practicing adolescent S&M routines on each other (Scott's character extends this weirdness by promising to have sex with the Dodge)."

That's just wrong.

I was watching the making of dukes of hazzard the movie and the scene that they jumped on the highway they messed it up about 5 times!!!!! 5 wasted chargers!!!!! POOR GENERAL LEE!!!! REST IN PEACE!!!!!! man I love that car

I swore off seeing the movie due to the above dissapointments in casting and what not. Having grew up watching the end of the tv series, and every rerun I could, I could hardly express some of my anger with the movie.

However, I did get peer pressured into seeing it. So there are a few good points to the movie, like having Junior Brown, King of the Guit Steel, play the Ballardier(sp?) Good choice there, IMO. Some good car scenes and action, but otherwise there is a lot PCness in there that angered me, and a couple of potshots at Super Troopers in the movie.

My Rating is wait for Blockbuster, NetFlix, On Demand, who ever's rental you use for it.

Ok, I just saw the movie so now I can judge it. All of you who judged before seeing it are idiots. It wasn't true to the show but it was a very entertaining movie. Hell if got me driving crazy afterwards. not that it's hard for me to do.

My rating two :flipoffs: :flipoffs: to all who haven't seen it but talk sh!t

I stand corrected. I didn't think anyone here would enjoy seeing the dukes "practicing adolescent S&M routines on each other (Scott's character extends this weirdness by promising to have sex with the Dodge)."

I guess I was mistaken. However, that's still sick and wrong.

Opinions are like assholes , everyone has one
I will see it eventually , but Im not going to pay to see it.

I am judging the movie from the preview and the cast.
Something I do for all movies i am thinking of going to see.
I dont see how that makes me an idiot

you are totally right, but I think that people are looking at it wrong. It was an entertaining movie and it wasn't a exact copy of the show but then what would be the point of making it. I thought it was good. We went to the drive in's which was a lot cheaper.

I went and saw the flick on sunday... now im going to say this now... im a pretty big fan of the old series (ive gott em on dvd). When the movie started out, i was kinda disapointed when the General lees door opened and bo and luke just kinda walked out... i thought... "you gotta be kidding me.... after watching it for a couple of minutes, the general lee makes a transformation into one kick a$$ machine... That motor has been punched over 600 horse!!!! If you like watching a crashem up bang em up fast driving movie.... go see it... it doesnt hold completely true to the series... but in a current day rendition.. its funny as hell... the bloopers at the end (if you like classics) will make you cringe :-? , they show sme of the actuall landing of the cars....

Here are some of the generals stats:

300 pounds of lead had to be added in the trunk to keep the car from nose diving

The hemi was punched just a little over 600 horse power

during the series run, the general lee recived over 30,000 letters requesting its photograph... people were sent a picture of the general signed by its tire tread

the '69 charger won 22 of its 54 nascar races

in 1969 a charger would cost @ $3,030.00, today a mint condition General Lee will run you a cool $52,000.00.... to be exact.

So.... I Liked it!! :flipoff:
