Dug out a 2.2 tuber after 8yrs in storage

There are bad ass scx width housings from several companies out there now. Both plastic and aluminum with either removable 3rd members or diff covers like ar60's have. Look into the "XR" mod using at least VP knuckles since they are the most versatile knuckles available since you can change steering arms on both the front and back of it.

Also search "drill press wheel mod" and you'll find the easy way to convert any wheel to an slw type hub. Also switching to 3s lipo opens up a whole new world of power not only to the motor but also to the steering servo. Running something cheap from the classifieds such as an Axial ae-3 with a castle external bec running the servo I'll be more than you ever dreamed of 6 years ago.

I think those VP housings only take SCX10 hubs. Having an insane amount of steering would be great, but I think the shock and lower link would get in the way.

That wheel mod looks perfect, but the way these aluminum rims are machined, i'd need a mill to do it right. Know of anyone on RCC that does custom mill work; as in I ship them two parts and say 'here, make these fit together'?

I found a castle BEC in my parts bin, so that would be one less thing I'd have to pick up for an upgrade. Luckily my old battery charger supports lipo.

If the vp housings won't work look around for some that will. Although I'm 100% sure someone has done the xr mod to those housings on here. Maybe it was with the vp 8* c hubs for an scx and wraith/xr knuckles?

The vp vvd's are decent but the axial universal shafts turn a bunch sharper, I have both.

After pricing out all of the parts required in order to use those VP housings I mentioned before, it would only be about $15 cheaper than buying the Currie housings.
