Do not ever ever buy a redcat product unless you like paper weights

So I've been a loyal redcat fan since I started RC's and they are pretty much all I've owned (didn't know any better) and I have 12 RC's only one is not a redcat.
So now anyway I have spent over $4500on these since the new year with everysingle receipt as proof I have a very expensive and heavily
Modified rockslide super crawler that I'm up to over $2000 in with all parts and many custom extras. This thing never stops breaking in the simplest and dumbest ways over and over I've spent months rebuilding and Correcting the many issues with it to finally get it to where it is a good running machine so the screws would snap the shocks came undone kept twisting this and snapping that and the screws they send with the upgrades are worse then the ones that came with it factory. I've had to dremmel every screw head off of one of the gear case as they all strip way to easy. This is not worth the headache if I had bought another super crawler brand I wouldn't of had these issues. So I got two of those pagani pros which are ok RC's. They too constantly fall apart and spend weeks on my shelf as the parts are so flimsy that they snap of easily and when you go to the local hobby store they carry almost zero parts for redcats RC's as I'm one of the only suckers around buying them so yu gotta order off the website and where I live that usually takes up to three weeks we have that three wheel Stryker pro as well and can see why they don't sell many of those as it is also garbage no matter how much you try to tune it it runs very lousy so I bought that tsunami pro the new redcat basher recently and I'd have to say that's the only redcat I'm probably gonna keep as it is a pretty solid little unit. And while it keeps losing parts just not as bad as the redcat norm. I went and bought that 1/5 dune runner 4x4 and took it out to the local dunes to break in the new motor and it died after about 25 min could not get it started at all and the pull cord snapped off in my face so went and spent $50 at the local hobby shop to get it replaced. And then try again no spark at all so went and bought a new spark plug ( now keep in mind I've had this thing for less then 24 hrs) and installed it again zero spark so took the ignition coil off and tested it and it is dead so put a new one on and try testing for spark again nothing so the fly wheel and the ignition coil and the pull cord all got 25 min of use and will not work so frustrated about this I go back to the store and ask to exchange or even get some help wth it and they basically told me they will not stand behind any redcat product they sell in any way and I would have to deal with redcat direct. Great as redcat falsely advertises they don't return half your emails and are rude to deal with as I've had a past experience with dealing with them and wasnt easy. The guy on the phone at redcat said to me that I should have to wait for many weeks to enjoy my new $1000 rc I just bought because the local hobby shop will. Not help me in anyway and the guy wants me to wait for them to take their time like always to ship me these parts after I fill out a form and that i have to do all the repairs alone with no help and that they will not ask the local to assist by just handing me parts today over the counter so I don't have to wait for many more weeks and he said no he would not ask them to do this and that I have to jump through his hoops and then wait weeks I've tried asking for my money back at the local shop and again treated like crap. They said to me at the local shop that redcat would have to phone them to give me the parts and when I asked the guy on the phone to do that is when he said he would not do that and I have to go to him even though the local shop only just wanted a 2 min phone call from him to help me. So they where not complete dicks they just know in there that redcat is a very shitty company to deal with as well as they made that clear. And I can go on for a lot longer about redcat and all the past issues but I think this post is getting too long already. So I've tried sticking loyaly to them I tried looking for the positive side of redcat and these crappy kid grade RC's and even convicted friends to buy these and they all sold them almost immediately and saying to me to get away from the low grade crap they are and I ignored friends who've raced rc for year and said to stay away I thought no I'm determined to show that they are good. Well that was very ignorant of me to argue with rc buddies with experience when they told me I would only have issues with redcats. And after 5 months of disagreeing I said sorry to and asked for recommendations for a good rc and now as I'm tired of standing up for a company who does not give two shits about the customer. So I'm making one last over priced order from redcat and rebuilding all my redcats, as everysingle redcat I own is on the shelf waiting for parts so I got 12 redcat RC's and can't drive a single one for weeks to come. And that really pisses me off.
**** redact and there cheap shit product and poor customer service.
And not all redcat RC's pictured in pics just most I should go and get close ups of all the broken peices as well.

I still don't understand why you went out to buy a Redcat gasser knowing that the other 10 Redcats that you own have broken on you. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for stupidity or being hard-headed. I noticed in your previous "rant" thread about Redcat, that you bought another Chinese piece of junk for a grand.... How do you think it is going to hold up? Not any better than a Redcat product; forget about replacement parts, too.

For the amount of money that you spent on garbage, you could actually have 1/2 of the collection number with very high quality RCs. You know, RCs that hold up and people actually like.

Good luck selling the Redcat stuff. You're going to need it.

I have to agree here 100%, after your first post talked about how many issues you had with them and the amount of parts breaking on them, you went and bought another one. I'm pretty sure you'll find that 95% of the members here already know redcat is basically junk and wouldn't have bought 1 yet alone 12. I'd figure that most won't have any sympathy for you especially after seeing you purchased some other Chinese knockoff for a grand after the redcat died. Even though its aluminum it's probably still junk made low quality aluminum, which will still end up breaking or bending. I wish you the best but I'm doubtful to say the least.

I'd recommend selling both and buying the HPI, with as much as you will spend in repairing the others you'd still end up spending less in the long run buying one quality rig.

X2, I wouldn't even waste more money on fixing them to sell, it sounds like you would be lucky to get any back.

I'd also say don't drop too much into repairing them, maybe get them back up and running or just leave them as is, personally I'd just put them on eBay and hope for the best. Most will get pennies on the dollars for what you've spent on them but at least it's something. Or just as you stated make paperweights

P.s. Punctuation and grammar go real far in this world, it makes it much easier to read posts. The one above is so garbled together its hard to understand some of the points you were trying to make.

Got most of them at the %50 off table that why I got half of them and was willing to give the dunerunner one last shot at redcat as I only knew redcat up until this site a month or so ago and have only been into RC's for maybe 7 months. So learning the hard way I guess

Why is it that dumb ****s on this site talk out there ass so much ?
That (JAPANESE) knock off is an exact match to hpi there for a hpi's parts will bolt right up. You see I did my research before buying and bought it originally cuz it would fit Baja parts. And also wanted this one cuz then I didn't have to spend hrs building it wanted an rc that I could put some tires on gas in and go. Did not want another project build and beside I got my money back for that unit today and went to the local hobby shop and bough that new 1/5 Losi desert buggy XL and spent a few hrs ripping around a real rc for the first time. As I've decided that for now on I'm buying horizon hobby products for now on and this Losi is really quite nice.

Oh and by the way ****tard being as dyslexic as I am I have a hard time with written word and getting it in order on paper and tend to mix word and forget proper placements.

And as for the selling of the redcats. I traded the two pagani pros to a farmer for my first plane today. And probably won't have to much issue selling them just won't get much back which is ok I got my time with them got my experience on them and now onto bigger and better

Their ass....their ass. It isn't as much as blow wind out of our rear end as it is people sharing their thoughts, experiences, second-hand experiences and so on about an eBay special or an overseas hunk of junk.

Japanese, Chinese, Korean. It's all still junk that we don't need to be paying for. Unless you're trying to piece a 1/5th scale together, there's no need to build one. All of them are RTR. Gas them up and go.

Seriously man, what's with all of the negative attacks towards Dan? He is only speaking the truth. You won't get little to anything back out of the Redcat collection that you have. Because everyone knows that they are literally one of the worst RC companies out there. BTW, this is the Newbie General section of the forum, so don't flame anyother member. We didn't call you names or attack you.

So by "bigger and better" you need a plane that will break more often than a Redcat RC?

Way to go mate, all we are trying to do is help you out, treat people as you would like to be treated, no one flamed you so whats with the attitude.

Well the flamed comments were already removed apparently towards me. And how is treating someone like they don't belong cuz of a few choice in the recent past. Again I'm posting in the noob section us I'm just that new and people who have lost their passion and excitement for this just chime in. So when you got 20 experienced people picking on a noob what the **** do you think is gonna happen.
I'm gonna just stop with my excitement and go absent for a while I guess.
And that post about don't buy redcat was not for sympathy more to just express my frustration over a few dumb purchases as we've all made them and to let those who are new and thinking of buyin redcat to steer clear of them Is all is was getting at.

Hey VC, sorry to hear about your recent rc experience... it sucks to regret spending money on this stuff that you weren't familiar with. But live and learn.
I hope you keep up your enthusiasm for it but with proper gear.
Feel free to ask any questions here in the newbie section... spend some time reading while you decide what to do with your current lot.

But, Lentsnh2012 is correct.
The is the Newbie section and it is against the rules to flame or name call... and I'm here to enforce those rules.
I went back and read sickcivic95's post and while you may not want to here his opinion, you did bring up the subject and his post reads without malice to me.

Please help to keep the peace and quite of the Newbie section.
Thanks,
Johnny

that was me. i can only do so much to try and keep the trolls away. now that this thread is in chitchat the gloves are off, so either put on your flame hat and feed the trolls or simply ignore the thread.

to be frank... i question along with everybody why you have so many damn redcats. and you gotta see its easy for those who wanna start chit on a messageboard to go after a guy talking waaay too much about them.

hopefully that losi works out for ya. ive had a couple losi rigs and theyve always been pretty nicely made and well thought out.

...and stop talking about redcats for petes sake.

S done in the last now. And I've already traded the two drifters for a rc plane. And one I'm thinking of lighting one on fire and running it out in the dunes at night for you tube video. And only had so many cuz they were cheap and on the %50 off tables lol. now I'm more knowledgeable and I'll have this collection gone and replaced in no time.
Already looking at a axial roller in the classifieds now.

And yeah that Losi once broken in is a lot of fun and rips up those jumps and the dirtbike track.

So what plane did you get? I freakin love flying 3d, not that I'm any good. Its just a blast. I flew nitro back in the 90s but when I got back into it a few years ago and got my first 3d I was hooked.

I'm really not sure why some people talk out their a¥# so much either, can you please explain in detail how and why.

I actually do know a little something about aluminum and its manufacturing and that the properties of said aluminum play a huge roll in its performance and stability.... That said "Japanese" knockoff -- may be assembled in Japan but I would almost guarantee that the separate components are not produced in japan. They like most other countries purchase lots of their aluminum from outside countries, like Taiwan and China, or for the good quality aluminum Russia or even UAE. They do produce great steel but not NEARLY as much on the aluminum. So keep talking about what you think you know and I'm sure it will get you real far on a site with more experienced people who have more knowledge than I can shake a stick at.

As for it fitting Baja parts it may, I don't know, but IMO you're contradicting yourself when you say you didn't want a project, yet you bought a lesser quality unit to upgrade using the higher quality parts? I understand you won't replace some of them until the time comes when they break or twist or whatever, but isn't this still somewhat of a project if you're intending on upgrading it? If that's the case why not just buy the RTR 5b or 5t and be done you could have saved some annoyance and been running it all weekend instead of fighting with a crappy rc company.

Oh and by the way ****tard being as dyslexic as I am I have a hard time with written word and getting it in order on paper and tend to mix word and forget proper placements.

WOW, I'm not quite sure why you are seeing what I said as being mean towards you. I stated an opinion based on observation, I don't know you or your health issues and in no way was I belittling you or attacking you. So how is someone supposed to know that you have an issue?
Oh I know by reading a post on an RC forum, making a comment and then you jumping back for no good reason and only exacerbating the issue even more, or would it have been easier by you responding with something more along the lines of, ......yeah I know its a mess but my dyslexia has a tendency to create typing issues for me. But thanks for the heads up...............

Instead we get intertard harda€£ syndrome! but I guess I shouldn't expect much more from someone who seems to take everything at face value. I'm also sure that having internet harda33 syndrome may be fine elsewhere, but it will get you no where on here so you may want to watch that as you'd getting eaten up outside the NEWB section.

This ones just for good measure so you can see I'm not the only one who saw no wrong in my previous post. Thanks Johnny I meant no harm in my statement.

:shock:REALLY:shock:......that was my actual thought when I first read this.

and I will admit, my first crawler was a RS10, (actually bought 2, for me and my son) but I bought them because they were cheap rigs, that would allow us to somewhat decide if we were gonna like/enjoy RC crawling.

I did my research, new they were cheap, and new what parts would interchange, and what the weak links were before purchasing them.

and I built a fully custom rig for myself, using only the axles themselves, that I truly enjoyed crawling with until I sold it.

I now have over a dozen scale crawlers, but I have still yet to spend anywhere near the amount of money that you have spent in the last 7 months on my complete collection....just saying.....the classifieds here are full of great deals ( I have never bought a new rig ever) from even greater guys and gals. that are more than willing to help anyone, whether a noobie or a veteran, if you'll just be polite and ask.

just my $0.02

$4,500 in 7 months works out to almost $650 a month.............to me that's just hard for me to even comprehend, makes my head:oops:hurt to think about it even. that's more than my mortgage payment, and I live in a fairly nice home.

I cannot find sympathy for someone with that much to spend on toys to then be unhappy with the toy.

You epitomize the spoiled American.
