A "Ute" is what Aussies call a small pick up. Although they seem to call both pick ups and the old school style cars with truck beds "utes" as well. Anyhow, I've been obsessed with them ever since I saw them the first time I went to Oz. My Aussie buddy who grew up in the "bush" (not to be confused with "outback") was telling me that the alu. trays come standard from the dealer. Out in the bush, every ute I saw had a tray vs. the truck bed sides we're used to in the States. I go often for work and have hit every hobby shop in the Melbourne CBD hoping some cottage maker has done a tray for the Hilux body.

Here's a couple of Utes I snapped pics of during my last visit:

Every kid growing up in the bush seems to drive one of these at some point:

Ute is short for Utility, as in Utility vehicle. It is not solely an Aussie term. SUV here is Sport Utility Vehicle...if it isn't sporty, it is just a Ute. Some cultures latch on to terms differently then others.

Thanks Kelly C for explaining my Aussie slang I thought the whole world new our bogan terms.

Rjcrawler I love your truck. What body did you use?

It is the Tamyia fj and Thank you for compliment..
