This is my first attempt at a Monster Truck.
I made the chassis from left over aluminum from work. I made the links from aluminum dowel and drilled and tapped the ends and used all thread to attach rod ends to the dowel. I have recently ordered RPM rod ends to use as the stock traxxas ones I used keep breaking. I used AR60 axles and Hot Racing Aluminum 2 Speed Transmission. I am using Hot racing Steel Driveshafts for front and back center shafts. I am running a hobbywing 1/8 scale brushless esc and traxxas 550 size brushless motor. I made a custom steering servo mount out of aluminum angle so that I could mount a 1/5 scale servo (I had one laying around and for durability). I have OFNA Pirate tires and wheels mounted using Tyres 17mm hex adapters (They were like 5 bucks, they are really tight and took some convincing to get them on but work so far. I have Hot Racing aluminum shocks on it now but will most likely be putting Traxxas T-maxx shocks on instead. I am probably forgetting something. But this is just what I have done so far.

Nice! I'm slowly working on a first time build as well. It's good to see another first timer get the project done. Quick question: Why did you choose to go with a 1/8 ESC instead of a 1/10 for the build? Necessity or just for shits and giggles?

Well for starters I used 1/8 scale ESC because it's what I had laying around, for two the weight of the truck dictates which system to put in as most 1/10 scale systems could not safely handle the weight(over heating).

Oh and by the way. Mines not done ;). I'm constantly having to modify/tweak things. The more I run it I find more little things that need to be addressed.

Yeah that's what I kinda thought about the ESC choice. How thick is the aluminum of your chassis?
I think around an 1/8 in. I used scrap aluminum from my work. It was part of a roller shade box. I'll pm you.
