You guys don't really need to see a step by step from me, so maybe just few things I'm changing up. "thumbsup"

Only changes to the front axle is SS screws and SSD brass knuckles.

No changes to the rear for now. ;-)

When building my links I like to pre thread my link ends. I found that the easiest way to do that is with a drill. Just a little machining wax on the threads and go slow as to not melt the inside of link end. "thumbsup"

Also easiest way for final assembly! Wax and slow.

I wanted to massage the new RC4wd foams and try before I go to the trouble of building 2 stage foams. So off to the wood lathe and router table.

Last step at the router table makes the mounting so much easier!

Ok, the rolling chassis is done. The tires and wheel I pick for this truck.

And a pearl orange body. I choose to just do a plain paint layout. I 'm trying the new Proline paint and didn't want to spend a bunch of time laying out a paint job only to screw it up with paint I haven't used before!

The paint came out great, but I messed up not getting my white backing for the orange heavy enough and the black bled through a little, but I can live with it.

Interior and inner fenders which I painted flat black on both sides.

That's all for now, next, maybe just little of making it my own.

I really like the wheel/tire combo, suits the Scout-influenced body very well.

Nice trick with the foams!

Thank you young man, I'm glad I can stimulate your building juices.;-)

Thanks Durok, I did a little research on the pickups and saw this style wheel several times.

Nice. That was just a box of nice parts the other day, lol. Looks good.

Hey Jeff thanks, and yes it was just a box of parts when you last saw them! It was nice having you playing in my shop for a couple days!! I've made the offer several times but you were the first take me up on it, and your welcome back anytime. "thumbsup"

I may have something for you for this soon.

GREAT looking truck Ernie! no surprise, the paint looks amazing - just remember, we are always our own harshest critic ;)
also glad it looks like you have your lathe working again!

chassis looks great and im resisting a slow migration to the VS4-10 starting with rails under my enduro, but... trying to keep it as stock and "simple" as i can.
anyway i really like yours so far and the simple and effective mods you have done should make an already great platform just a tad bit better.
keep tinkering! i'm sure you are far from done (even if you think you are close lol)!

*haven't forgotten about your trip, either. just been really busy at home with the little guy!

Did you stop and check out my crawling spot on the way home?"thumbsup"

Ernie
I did, looks like a great spot, was tempted to stop and get some quick pics but my back was done. Hopefully my back cooperates a bit better next trip, currently going through a bunch of testing/imaging to try and get it figured out, fingers crossed.

I'm trying to think up more projects to knock out on the next trip, lol.

The new VP kit? Cool.

You guys coming down for RC4WD scale event in October?
You were driving down for something else, right?

Hey Chris, how is your back doing?
We will be in LA October 1st and 2nd, and in SD 3rd through the 8th.
When is the RC4WD event? "thumbsup"

Back has been awful. It started to get better so I went back to my normal projects that involves lifting things, like beer carboys and kegs :lmao: and it went out again. So I'm sitting at 5-1/2 weeks and just starting to feel normal again. The worst is sitting, which is my job. Walking or lying down is pain-free, still hard to bend down to pickup a RC truck. Did put a few minutes on the new Enduro on Sunday - it's been a month.

When you come down I hope we can get Sinchu up from SD for a day of crawling at CDM Rocks.

RC4WD scale event is the weekend of October 25-27, central CA, Sierra foothills at a lake. I haven't looked for a thread on it here, but here's the eventbrite page. We have 3 camp rigs going so far. Would be nice to get the nor-cal group down as well, Nate, Paul, Casey.

weather would be incredible, if not a little chilly but not unbearable.
as much as i would LOVE to do an event with my fondest ascender cats, i think my limit is 1 per year (proline). and yes i know i missed the last one so logic would dictate i get a "make up" event but... its just not in the cards with the extra care a new kiddo takes. CDM would be nice but... not sure how i could manage to drive up for that. Mrs. shinchu needs "me time" more than i do at this point.
don't worry gang, things will get better. as soon as the youngest of the shinchu clan is making his own sandwiches, i will be attending more than 1 event per year.

sorry for the mini-thread derail.

any shots of this thing in the wild yet, Ernie?

I was just looking into that event, I might be able to make it but I've yet to commit. I assume the RC4WD events aren't for RC4WD rigs exclusively (like how Axial does it), is that right?
EDIT: I just looked at the Eventbrite page and its not exclusive to RC4WD rigs

We'll have 3 rv rigs there...ya don't even hafta cook. LOL
I was going to go up there Wed or Thurs and take the boat, but I think the water level drops below low at end of season. Oh well...run trucks and drink beer.

Truck is looking great Ernie! Really like the paint job! Will be following along as always. Keep up the awesome work! "thumbsup"

Thanks Justin, I ordered a axle housing to up grade your steering, all I could find was a stock housing, so you may have to switch from the SSD housing?

Just a few sitting on my waterfall/pond.

Truck looks great Ernie, sounds like you may be a fan of the Proline paint?

Nice work as always.
Thanks for the kind words. I like using the old water base paints way back when, so when proline came out with this new line I bought a bunch of it.
"thumbsup"

Now for a little update. I add all the scale light buckets, grill, door handles and so on. I also wanted to change up the look of the truck bed profile so I made a simple cage. "thumbsup"

My driver (Woody).

A few shoots on the pond rocks.

All for now. "thumbsup"
