Cheap Axial Wraith Axles?

Hey all,
I'm looking for some wider axles for my axial scx10 and saw some people before using wraith axles. Does anyone know where to find some cheaper ones, or some other ways to make my axles wider? I don't really want spacers for my wheels because that messes up the steering geometry, and I'm thinking of getting two front axles for four wheel steering. Thanks in advance "thumbsup"

I am wondering at this point if it would be better in the long run to get a RC monster truck instead of trying to turn my scx10 into one.

Cheapest way is likely going to be a used rig that runs AR60s

Second would be an RTR you dont mind cannibalizing for other projects. I believe the Wraith RTR is sub $400...but that is a chunk of coin if you have no interest in the wraith electronics and chassis

Third, and because its going to be hit or miss with the availability of someone selling just axles, would be a chop shop setup on ebay or a forum member here selling just complete axles.

People do it, but I’ve never seen one that works well. The links and drivelines don’t work, so you have to move the links around and make some funky setup with crazy driveline angles. Just get a wraith, or if you’re like me and don’t like caged vehicles, get a wraith skid and bpc gen 5 chassis rails and go from there.

I put some wraith axles under a VS4-10 chassis(same concept just better designed than SCX10) And with some simple link risers and Wraith link kit, it works really good and the shafts are straight. I also opted for SOA so I had to do some extra frame cutting, but it made the link geometry a lot easier. My WB is around 14"

Overall I think it's a very fun build and the performance gain is there for sure. It will test your patience if you do it like I did and not have everything you'll need.

And as far as axles, I got lucky a found a guy local to me with the axles and I traded him an Element Enduro chassis for them.

Heard good about the kyx ar60 axles. Little more ground clearance with the ar44 pumpkin in it. IMO stock take offs need more in upgrades then what it costs to buy a decent set.

Only the rear. The front axle shafts break if you've got decent power, and you can only use KYX axle shafts shipped from china with them.

I bought a lightly used set of vanquish v2 axles to fix my problems, but I only use the front one. I put the rear kyx back on because it has much better ground clearance, and stock ar44 gears are 25% lower than stock ar60 gears... Free 25% OD.

My truck has a monster 70mm 2400kv castle brushless motor with a mamba x esc, and I put it through hell. Haven't been able to break a rear kyx axle shaft yet!

Do you know if anyone sells longer axle UV's compatible with axial differentials? If so, I have an idea for 3D printing a wider differential housing. I also found this man who used tamiya juggernaut axles on his Excaliber.

There are possibly different versions available. I've got the kyx axles under what was formerly an e10 and they use normal wraith shafts. It came with the cvds but I'll replace them with universals when they eventually break.

I agree about the driveline angle issues. I ran into that on a different rig.

If you are running a 3 link I don't think it would be difficult. With a 4 link the driveshaft and upper link want to live in the same place. I solved that by adding a riser for the upper link mounts instead of using the upper mounts on the skid. Initially I did run the drivelines diagonal across (left to right) to clear. After that sucked, I picked up some mip shafts that, with their smaller diameter, allowed everything to clear and eliminate the goofy angles.

Long story short for the op, it's possible but not likely just a direct bolt in swap to make it work.

theres also the xrmod that can also be done to the ar44 axles you need inserts for your axle.that have a new splined section that your lockouts and knucles atach to its kinda the middle ground of axle langth longer than the ar44s but shorter than the ar60s

axles are one part thats hard to find cheap or build on the cheap there is a set of ar60s on ebay for 140 for both axles but they use chinesium axle parts that will need replacing before too long but thats the best deal ive been able to find

Yeah, Ive been looking everywhere and the cheapest I can find is like $96 on Aliexpress but that stuff is probably cheap material too. The axles on my SCX10 now are from Aliexpress though, I found the ones the guy who had it before me put on it. They seem sturdy enough.

Are those pretty sturdy? They look like they have stock plastic covers as a base.

Yeah, the beef tubes are made to sleeve the stock housing. It strengthens, and in the case of the xr mod kit, widens the housing. The ones I have in my ar60s insert all the way to the diff so it's a good improvement to the stock housings.

I'll keep that in mind, but I did the math and it will probably cost me $300 to install those on my rig when I can get the Aliexpress ones for $90. I'd probably pick those for a ground-up build.

Just check on ebay there's plenty of rc recyclers on there ar 60s are about 125$

Or at least find SMT10 axles that someone swapped out for something stronger.

SMT10 axles are open diff which is what most Monster Trucks run. All other versions of the AR60 axles and all the Chinese versions that I know of have a spool. I don't think I'd want to run a spooled AR60 with huge MT tires.
