Castle Link "torque limit" problem - sidewinder 3

Right on buddy, you don't have to ask I'm already out of here. "thumbsup" I guess not everyone come here for the same reasons.
Classy, right? Looks like this thread is done.

I had emailed Castle about this as well, and the response was "Hey, you found a bug in the software! This shouldn't be allowed in brushed mode. We'll fix it for the next release."

No disrespect to yourself in any way Joe, but although i understand wanting to make it as scale and as realistic as possible there are some things that just isn't easy to scale down the same way. They don't run gas engines or 5 speed manual gearboxes for example so you're always going to be quite limited in a single or 2 speed electric motor set up.

I use a 1080, rather than a sindwinder but with the punch control on it set full , low gearing and a bit of finger control i can get nice smooth controlled acceleration on my RTR Axial tx. At WOT people not think it's very scale, but it might be a scaled down version of a real vehicle with a 1000bhp engine in it "thumbsup"

I feel ya, no worries. I'm just trying to make use of the tools available in any way I can. I love messing with things as much as possible, especially when there are a lot of options to play with.

Was talking with one of the other engineers yesterday about the settings and he made me realize that you should be using punch control, not torque control. It controls the speed that it applies power rather than pulling back the power the motor uses. This will make it easier on the car and make the power smoother.

Oh I've got punch control maxed out, it is a fairly mild effect really, for how I want it to respond. I really do want to limit the torque, believe it or not. [emoji33] As an alternative, I've just basically removed the tranny and am direct driving the transfer case, and dropped the max power in castle link, to drastically reduce torque. It actually moves fairly realistically now, and still has enough umph to climb scale-realistic obstacles. Going to keep playing with it, but this is working for now.
