Can you slow down a servo winch?

I have an existing servo winch made from a hitec 645mg servo and heyok 3 position controller with a spool. Had this a long time and it works great but the spooling speed is just too fast. I'm using the winch to raise and lower implements on the front of a 6x6 rig (plow, snowblower) and I find the winch speed to be too fast for fine control.

Curious if anyone had suggestions? In the end I may have to look at something like an rc4wd winch because I know the line speed is slower but I hate to give up on the power of my existing setup.

Any recommendations are appreciated.
 
you might be able to lower the voltage

a smaller spool would slow it down too

if you have the abulity to set the end points on the channel or program that channel to 50% power and only run at part throtle

in the end its just a motor and esc inside a servo housing

if you use a cheap speed controler to control the winch you can set it up to pull at any speed you want
ive herd some of the micro 1/24 escs have the foc like control if you realy want to go all out

Isn't FOC for brushless motors only?

Thanks for all the ideas so far. A few things I forgot to mention. The channel on my radio is a 3 position slider vs a lever or dial. It doesn't have EPA capability. I had thought about a cheap ESC but being 3 position with EPA i wasn't sure that would work.
 
Any way you do it, you existing servo will produce less power if you don't use gears to slow it down.

honestly i dont know but i think it works for brushed motors maybe not the same way but close i do know there is a micro esc that is foc like and it runs both brushless and brushed motors but i dont have one

also i dont know if his servo is brushed or brushless

I make a version of the winch controller that has variable speed. To set the speed, you adjust your end points. Or, if you would like, I could make one with a trimmer pot that you could rotate to set the speed. Just send me a PM or an email and we can work this out. Email is mostlyal@gmail.com

It runs off the rx so it would be 5v.

Hi....In case I wanted more hat, and more slow speed, I would equip the result shaft, IE supplant the horn with a stuff and assemble a mount for a mating gear. A standard servo won't work in view of the restricted travel, however a winch servo may very well fill the bill. It has around a few turns on the drum which could be supplanted with a stuff and if you arrangement a 9 to 1 stuff proportion, you could check out force and much more slow result on the last shaft. a 9 to 1 proportion would give you around 120 levels of development for a three turn winch servo at multiple times the force.

Presently, is a servo what you realy need, or do you want a stepper engine with driver?
