THREAD STARTER!

Just found this amazing kit as was lucky enough to snag one on Amazon before they sell out. The wheels and bumper accessories aren't out yet, but I just invested in an airbrush, so as soon as my Kuro King is done (I promise I won't set it aside again) I'll get started on this. I CAN'T WAIT!

visit https://thehardbodycrawler.com for details.

This is designed to go onto a SCX24 (mount included) or a RC4WD Gelande II. I believe the Traxxas version is in the works...

I bought on Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BKTYFT9L?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Until then, enjoy some glamour shots!

Curious why you didn't get the tan if you're going to paint it. Man that is so cool... and they're even doing the oem wheels! Looking fwd to see what all you do with this and to see it completed on scx24 chassis. Hopefully you'll do a crawling vid. Great score!

I got the blue because I was hoping to NOT have to paint it. And most people will be ok with the stock plastic. But I really want to improve my painting skills and try some weathering. It's going to be so fun to work on this model because I don't have to spend weeks figuring out how to mount it ;-)

Oh yeah! Really looking fwd to seeing where you take it. That blue is a great color even as so I can only imagine how amazing it's gonna look. Love the 'mount right up' aspect as well. I was looking at all their parts coming soon... Detailed, legit, and cleanly designed and made. I look fwd to seeing your progression.

Man that looks like a great kit! Looking forward to seeing how it turns out!

I grabbed a second one. Plan is to keep one nice and classic to pull my 1/18 boat. And I’ll turn the other into an extreme off road version.

I need to sit down and get this 3D resin printer rolling…

I’m scouring FJ images on the web… too many choices! Not sure what color for the “classic” version.

My extreme version will be weathered. It’ll be my first real try at it.

Wow! Thanks for the finding this one.

What sold me on it..."Gelande II 1/18 perfect fit guaranteed". I pulled the trigger on the beige one...I think painting it will be a little easier for the color I'm planning. I already have a G2 18th with a CJ and Bronco body and this is a perfect addition to the classic collection.

Looking forward to the release of the rims and bumpers. "thumbsup"

Before you put it all together, just spray the body parts with Tamiya TS80 flat clear. And then have at it with the weathering. The flat clear will tone down the plastic shine like an old paint job and gives the weathering media something a little better to adhere to. Lots of YT videos on how to do it.

This is my first attempt at weathering. Did this WPL in one night from YT videos.

Great job on that weathering. I just put my kit together and am missing one of the rear corner windows...it looks like in your initial post with the pictures you may have been missing one as well. Is that the case? I am about to reach out to the seller to see if they can send me the missing piece as I am planning on keeping mine whole (though I really like your flat bed!).

Looks like I should clarify, as these threads can get a bit confusing. The photo you see of the weathered FJ is NOT the kit from Hardbody Crawler Co, nor is it a model that I painted.

The user 'OnTheTrail' posted an image of his WPL 1/12th scale FJ kit that he weathered (and it looks sweet). He was showing an example of how he did his kit. I haven't started mine yet as I'm trying to finish my Kuro King. I'm not sure if I'm missing any parts yet.

Oh I see, thank you for clarifying. Still getting used to the forum.

By the way I contacted the seller about the missing piece and they are taking care of it, so if you do end up having anything missing you should be good to do the same.

I finally got a chance to get started… made some progress
