I recently sold my T-Maxx and decided to build a scale rig. It will be done on a budget which is why I'm starting with an Exceed MaxStone 10. I'll be putting on an X-Trail scale chassis and for the body it will be a Parma Clodbuster Chevy K-30 "thumbsup". I should have pictures up soon. Let me know what you guys think.

Well, here is where I'm at so far.

Got some work done on the body. Heres what it looks like so far...

I gotta finish up the patchwork in the bed area and then move on to smoothing over those areas with some filler. And then of course comes paint...

Thanks. I finished up the patchwork today. Here's some pics...

Tomorrow I'm gonna start on the body work. Do any of you guys know if you can paint these lexan bodies with regular spray paint?

looks like a great start, but if you're going to paint the body do it right with polycarbonate sray paint made for lexan, not regular spray paint it cracks and flakes right off at the frist little bump of a rock

Thanks. I now have most of the bodywork done.

The hood still needs a little work, it's not easy getting that bodyline right.

This area is now taking shape and looks a little less like swiss cheese :).

I still need to fill in these stupid little lines.
I'm gonna go over all those areas with some finishing putty to get them looking nice and smooth. I think I'm gonna get the body mounted on the frame before I paint it. I'm thinking about using some Velcro, any suggestions?

No pictures this time, but I did get quite a bit of work done on it. I'll get some pics up once the bodywork is finished and I get the body mounted.

Awesome stuff, Im doin some similar body work on a Courier body as we speak, kinda tuff workin with this stuff when your used to Styrene lol. Keep us updated!
Matt

Thanks Matt, and will do! Do you have a thread on the Courier? I'd like to check it out. I did not get the body mounted, but it is ready for paint.

Inside the bed isn't perfect, but hey, it's an old Chevy and the beds are never perfect. (If the truck was used the right way :))

I'm happy with the way the bodyline on the hood turned out.

I got the body mounts done.

The rear mount has holes in it because I'm gonna glue body posts to the bottom of the body. That way I can line up the body easily when I go to put it on. I might get the body painted tomorrow. If I do I will post up pics.

I painted the body.

I think I'm gonna do a 2 tone with silver in the middle. If I do, I will clear it and then it will be glossy instead of satin like it is now.

The paint looks a little different where the filler is. Not a huge deal.

The bed doesn't look terrible, but it's by no means perfect. I may end up getting a piece of rubber to lay in there to look like a bedliner. If I can find something.

I bought a HPI Firebolt 15T motor for it to get some more wheel speed. Should have it by the end of the week. I pulled the tranny apart and it was completely dry. Can't say I'm surprised. So I greased it up and put it back together. I already had the axles apart and greased them up before I mounted them to the X-Trail chassis.

well this answered a HUGE qestion i've been debating, is the exceed maxwell compatable with the xtrail chassis, and it looks like yes lol, thx

Hey, I'm glad it was helpful to ya. I'd take it you're gonna be building a scaler off a maxstone with an xtrail chassis?

Got my 2 tone painted on, and all I can say is WOW am I glad I decided to do it. 8) Here's the pics...

That sag in the front of the fender was on the body, not from my paintjob... I use light coats:roll:

That sag was also there.
When I peeled of the masking, I could tell something was missing. The red pinstripe filled the void. It will also work well with the theme I'm going for... but that's a surprise.;-)
The grill is painted white because I will be printing off a decal and I figured it would look best with a white background since the decal paper is clear and normal paper is white. I still need to clear it, but that will come once all of my decals are applied.

The body is now finished.
Crawler033.jpg

I put the Axial mirrors on it and they fit the truck nicely.
Crawler029.jpg

The windshield wipers were also in the parts tree. I need to paint the glue and sheetmetal on the inside black. So I guess the body really isn't finished.
Crawler030.jpg

The theme I talked about earlier is my spin on Chevy's 454 SS trucks from the early 90's.

The only decal I didn't print out that's on the truck is the TCS one on the bumper. The decal sheet that came w/ the body is useless.
