i am wanting to build me a crawler that will be in the mud and water. should i go brushed or brushless motor. everything i have has a brushless motor but i have a few brushed layin around i could swap out.
i am wanting to build me a crawler that will be in the mud and water. should i go brushed or brushless motor. everything i have has a brushless motor but i have a few brushed layin around i could swap out.
Brushed can run in water but the brushes don't like mud and dirt. If you keep them clean and maintained, they will work great for you....they are also the least expensive so killing one isn't as big a deal. If I am running in mud, I pick up a $10 motor like the RC4WD 540 Brushed Crawler Motors and when they die, you throw it out and get a new one. I have about five 35T in my pit box.
Brushless will have less effects from mud being that they are sealed cans but you need to make sure that you waterproof them (if sensored). Only downfall is if you fry one, that is 5 times as much as the brushed and most won't stock them in their pit box...
As you can see, IMO, the brushed are the way to go for this application. I can have 5 motors for the price of one Brushless. "thumbsup"
