Brownie's XR-10 Viper build
Had my XR10 since last October and been crawling few times a month. Trying out different setup upgrading quite a few things along the way.

Here's the spec currently.
XR-10 kit.
Underground Crawlers Viper Chassis
Narrowed XR-10 wheels to 1". Made to work with VP slug.
HB Rover Whites all around.
Nova foams
45T Novak black can motors
FXR x 2
Hitec 7950th
CC BEC
Axial black springs.
Crawler Innovations servo guard
STRC black 101mm bent links for upper links
Crawler Innovations low clearance links - front
Crawler Innovations high clearance links - rear
VP knuckles
VP Chubs in black
VP rear lock out
VP tranny cases X 2
VP motor plates X 2
Chaotic Crawlers solid titanium steering link
Homemade axle battery mount.
Just got the chassis last week and I tried it on the rocks yesterday for a little bit. Pictures of the Viper on rocks to come.

Thanks, air compressor helps keep my truck clean, sometimes I also use cleaning putty.

The Viper chassis is made really well and easy to put together. Now I just need to have some time to go and test it out on the rocks. From what I saw other posted video/pictures this chassis could be very capable. Can't wait for the weekend. :mrgreen:
 
Looking good! If you have not already done so internally limit the shocks so that they are 4" eye to eye. Also highly recommended is to sand and seal the carbon fiber edges "thumbsup"
 
Yeah the first thing I did when receiving the kit was to sand the carbon fiber edge and seal with CA glue.

When I first put together the Viper and ran a week ago the shocks were a bit longer than 4" and truck feels a bit too high and wants to tip over easy. Now I put on the shorter rod ends and checked shocks are measured at 4" eye to eye. Might get to try it this afternoon.

I re-organized the wiring a little bit the other day and now running upper links inside the chassis.
 
I don't know much about these chassis' but you'll probably find that moving your upper links to the outside of the chassis will provide more stability.

Because of where the lower links are in the boatside skid there is still triangulation while inboarded on the viper. I have been running them inboard for a few tuning sessions and shooting some video with good results. Sidehilling has been unaffected.

Part of that may be insane traction rock though. I need to find some slick stuff to test on.
 
The upper links inside the chassis have been working for me. I think next I'll try to put them outside and see if that works even better.
 
Been several days since last update. The crawling session last Friday beatup the body panels. We tried to crawl over each others crawler.
So I made up new panels. This time actually painted them.

Also moved the upper links to outside the chassis.

Rock crawling is too much fun so I didn't get any pictures of truck on the rock.

Mine truck is on the bottom while others crawl over me when I was trying to take pictures.
