I am looking to upgrade to LIPOs, I have only been running NiHM(Yes I know time to upgrade...)... However, I don't know where to start. I am currently looking for a battery for my Beast... I am thinking of running a 2s as it is smaller and will fit in the cab better...

I am thinking of doing a TF2 and a semi down the road..

I would like recommendations on battery brands and a charger that is good but won't break the bank..

Would I notice much of a difference with a 2s VS a 3s?

I recall seeing a nice FYI on lipos, but I cannot get the search to work and google didn't help...

for a charger i have a hyperion eos0606i and i love, not sure on the price. you could get a cheap charger for around 50 bucks. for the batterys i have had good luck with vemon and onyx, id get a battery with a hard casing for extra protection. now for 2s or 3s really depends on your esc and motor, if you are unsure id run 2s as they provide plenty power and wont burn up your motor. youd be able to get batterys pretty cheap on ebay or amazon, just make sure they are the right size. if you have a local rc car shop id stop in there, they will be able to get you set up with everything you need. but it will probably be a little bit more expensive than online.

I've had great luck with sky, zippy, nano-tech etc from hobbyking.com

I highly prefer 3 or 4s since I'm a power whore but a baby step from 2s could be a good idea since you've been running nihm.

i would definitely get a charger that has a discharge, store, and what ever other things you need. I would buy a nice one now so you don't have to worry about it later. the hyperion EOS 0606I AC/DC CHARGER is 80 bucks and it does everything i need it to do besides charge more than one battery at once. its super simple to use and charges every battery you'll ever own.

I have been cheering long time now for iCharger, currently I have 2 of them, 106B+ and 308 duo.. They are powerful, accurate and seems to be durable.. 106 is propably 6 years old now.. And for us crawlers it has one neat feature, motor driver.. I use it primarily for breaking in motors and for powering comm lathe. You can also measure your lipo batteries Ir.. Foam cutter has not been in very busy use, although we used it to cut styrofoam for our indoor course elements
