B-MOW's VS4-10 Origin Limited

That looks like a fun time! Was it challenging to stay in the tape? May try something like that just for fun out here with a couple friends.

Throwback vs410 looking good "thumbsup"

Yeah, it is a lot of fun! The tape wasn't to bad unless you slide off a rock into it. They do allow 3 tires to cross. The 4th tire or all tires gets you a penalty. The bad side to the tape was when "trigger happy" drivers would get into the tape and it would get wrapped up in their axles, but that didn't happen to often.

Thanks TB!"thumbsup"

I'll I have to post up the other ES4C event I attended later on. It's cool that the venue changes for each event, so the terrain is different every time.

Picked up a set of the VP Method 310's from the VP website on Black Friday.

I got them installed last night on a set of old OG Rock Beast. These wheels are narrower than most of the wheels that I run. I wasn't to sure if I would like them, but after they were installed they actually looked really good.

Nice build and thread. "thumbsup" Sorry, did you mention the RTR weight of your VS4-10? I must have missed it.

Gotta say VP does such an immaculate job on everything they produce it must have been a fun build. .. looking good, thanks !!

Thanks man!"thumbsup"

You know, I don't think I ever took the time to weigh it when it was stock out of the box. It has gone through a few changes since then, so once I get all the upgrades that I have planned for it I will get the weight of it.

I agree!"thumbsup" VP produces some very nice products! And yes, this and my PRO were fun to build and they are my favorite builds to date!

Thanks for taking the time to look!"thumbsup"

I decided to take the Origin in a new direction. I picked up a GSpeed TGH-V3 Carbon Fiber low COG chassis for it. Since this rig with the new VFD trans is very similar to my VS4-10 PRO, I decided to change it up a bit and make it a better performer. It has been great out on the rocks and trails in it's somewhat stock form, so I want to see what else it can accomplish.

The new build thread for the Origin V3 can now be found here: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/1-9-scale-rigs/624080-b-mows-gspeed-v3-vs4-10-origin-vfd-build.html

Here are a few pics of the last time I had it out.

It's been a couple years, but the Origin Limited is back in the garage. I decided it was time to do a restore and convert it back to its original 2018 stock form.

I'll have more details in the near future.

This is overdue for an update. The Origin has been getting its restore on, but the thread manager has been slacking!

So I'll go by my camera roll on my phone and start here. As I WAS waiting for parts to ship, I worked on getting my new driver Sam fitted in the driver seat.

He is also now sportin' his new Scale Builders Guild Team jacket!:)

More updates on the way later today!

Parts arrived and installed. Picked up a HH Crawlmaster Sport 13T motor to try out. I have purchased the 16T motors in the past and planned on using it in here, but after hearing that @twade984 put one in his latest VS4-10 build and it had nice smooth crawlability, I thought I should try one in here.

I paired the 13T with my last HW 1080 V1 ESC's that I had in my parts bin. Stole the NSDRC RS800 V2 servo out of my now defunct GSpeed build for the steering duties in here. 3D printed a simple receiver box and mounted it up beside the servo. I've also used this receiver box on my Phoenix and it has worked out well. It is not sealed, but is somewhat splash proof.;-)

I decided to replace the stock leaky Incision shocks with a new set of Phoenix take-off Incision S8E 90mm shocks. Thanks to @Fricker08 for the shock purchase. I know some may not agree, but here lately the S8E shocks have really grown on me and have been my new favorite shocks to use in new builds. So far I've had great luck in keeping these leak free and silky smooth in all of my previous builds that I have put them on. I put 70wt shock oil in them as I found that that is a good starting weight oil to start with.

The tire and wheel choice may not be permanent. Well at least not the wheels. I found tire and wheel combo for sale on FB. They were brand new take-offs from the Vanquish Phoenix RTR. I found it incredibly hard to pass up $40 dollars for the package deal!! Looking forward to trying out these Falken Wildpeak tires. I may eventually stuff them with the new Vanquish VTS Stance dual stage foams in the future.

I threw on some Rust-Oleum 2X paint on the plastic stock KMC wheels to make them look a little better.

Looks great Brian, I think you will be happy with the updated setup.

great looking origin and more the whole transformation and upgrades ... Ive always wanted one but never got around to owning one ... I do have a set of D44's saved up for a project and plan on getting the origin full cab body as well but owning the whole origin rig would be nice. As always your threads rock.

Thanks Tom! The jacket was a spur of the moment decision. I wasn't sure what color or scheme to paint him. It did turn better than I had hoped!

Someone on the Social mentioned that he needs a five panel hat like Matt wears. I may look into that!:ror:

Thanks Speedy! I am glad I picked up the Origin when it first came out back in June 2018. The Origin did have its problems when it was first released, but Vanquish did an excellent job in providing a free fix to all of the Origin customers.

The D44 axles have always been my favorites and I've often thought about getting a fresh set to add to a build. Sounds like you have a good plan for a build!:)

Ok, now we're caught up and this is the Origin's current state.

I'm not sure yet if I like the wide stance. I may buy a narrower set of KMC hubs to install on these wheels to get the tires set in under the body more.

The side Scout decals were not originally installed on the body when it was new. I think I installed these late last year when the body lived on the shelf. These are the SOR Graphics decals made for this body.

This fairlead that is attached to the front bumper was an early version that was found on Shapeways. It was a 3D printed metal fairlead. If I remember correctly, Matt from SBG designed this and sold these. I'm not sure if these are even still available.

This license plate I had made by SRDLV back in 2018. The #128 digits were for the "serial number" of this Origin kit. Way back at the time of the Origin release, all of the new owners were posting their Origin "serial numbers" on the FB so that we could see who had which number Origin. I don't think they were really serialized, but mine had the number 128 at the end of the serial tag.

The Origin is nearly complete and back to original form. It has taken on many shapes and has been seen in different chassis' over the years. It's nice to have it all back together in nearly the shape that it was 5 years ago.

Hoping to get some light trail runs on it soon so that I can post some outdoor pics.

Your origin is so clean, doesnt look like its ever been out of the garage lol. She is sharp though.
