Axial SMT10 conversion

Hey folks, I have an SMT10 (raw builders kit) that I put together as a standard monster truck. Thinking how I would or could turn this thing into a rock bouncer like a Wraith. Any ideas where to start?

I'm not much of a fabricator so I won't be able to build things from scratch.

get a wraith cage and swap your parts over
you will have a hard time finding the wraith cage though
but there are a lot of metal cages out there and some other plastic cages that you could buy conversion parts for like the capra or gmaid R1(or injora clone of the G1) the bomber
I herd you can buy the miller Motorsports cage but I have no idea how herd it would be to convert over

The SMT10, while awesome looking and scale, has a super weak drivetrain. You are going to have to upgrade the transmission to metal gears and the axles to lockers and brass inner tubes if not aluminum axle housings.

I'd also be careful of who you buy the chassis from. Often that eBay shit is "welded" by a blind monkey with a soldering iron and it will not be symmetric nor will things line up to where they should. You could buy an Axial Ryft chassis.

LOL, I cant stop laughing by your 'welded" reference. X2 in the ryft chassis. If you dont mund a bit of fab work, there are probably other chassies like the enduro tube chassi rig "forgot the name" that ciuld be adapted.

I say just put some 2.2's and a nice brushless system in it and let it eat. Fix whatever breaks as you go. The driveline is the same as the Wraith/bomber, so any upgrades are pretty easy to do.

I've built several of those cheap metal cages and haven't had one not fit or line up the welds aren't pretty but are better than the ones I did to repair the cage I fast backed mine and had to weld it back together other than that I did have 2 welds pop but I have been beating the poop out of it since 2017 back when axial parts were unobtanium
