Can you make these go fast a Axial SCX10 4WD Trail Honcho.I know it sounds silly but i have a rock crawler to go slow and i would like a rc to go fast with as well .I dont like the looks of the normal run of the mill fast rc cars I think it would be a bit different:ror:
 
Well, my SCX10 runs the 87 tooth spur gear with the 20 tooth pinion gear. I run a Brood Creep Type R 35T handwound motor, and it is powered by a Castle Creations Sidewinder ESC. The battery is a 3S / 1500 mAh / 25C rating.

This thing goes slow as hell when I need it to...total control. But, it will get up and out of the way in a HURRY when I need it to as well. And, if you think that is fast...just toss a 4S battery in there. It is rediculous.

Same as KC said. I'm runnin 81 pinion with a 23 spur on the stock axial 27t motor. It cooks with a 1600mah 3s lipo. I have also run a Traxxas VXL system through the axial drive line and that was way too much power, but still fun.

You can make it go as fast as you want. Just drop a lower-turn motor and/or increase the voltage.

The problem you will run into with the SCX10 is handling. Because of it's "scale" design (solid axles, flexy ladder chassis, high COG), it doesn't handle high speed cornering anywhere near as well as even say a Tamiya Grasshopper.

I've messed around with dropping an old 15 turn-quad and just a standard 7.2v NIMH stick pack in my SCX10 TR and while it was a barrell of laughs, the thing would traction roll at any speed over 15 mph.

While you may not necessarily go that hot on the motor, you can get it to handle better by putting the battery on the rear instead of the front of the truck, using the softest springs all around(red, I believe), 30 wt. shock oil on the stock pistons. I ran about 25% sag front and rear with that setup. It also helps to run firmer foams in the tires (open cell foam, not memory foam) and taking out all wheel weights go without saying. Having a functional front differential is also key (hint: there is a part # in the Axial instruction manual for the AX10).

i ran an 18.5t goat in mine for a lil while and it ran great! prect mix of speed and crawlablity! and it could have went higher than the 87/23 gearing and 2s lipo i was running
 
Running my completely stock Axial Honcho on a flat asphalt parking lot on a calm day and trying both 2S and 3S LiPo battery packs I clocked the Honcho with a freshly charged 2S @ 4.7mph max and a freshly charged 3S @ 6.3mph.
 
You can make it go fast (as many have already said) but you'll make it handle well (as has also been said). Solid axles, high CoG and long travel shocks aren't conducive to good handling..
