Axial / Redcat Hybrid question.

Hey, I own a Redcat Everest 10 Gen 7 and had this odd thought. Does anyone here think it might be possible to take the axle assemblies from an Axial Capra and merge them onto the platform? I am new to crawling (an old timer with RC racing of one type or another though) so I have not had much time to figure all of the ins and outs yet. Thanks in advance for any replies. "thumbsup"

I just threw a set of AR60s on a E10 chassis. Just have to figure out the link lengths.
Shouldn't be too hard with the portals except getting the gearing sorted out.

I thought that might be the case. BTW what E10 are you talking about? I used to be one of the founders of One Ten Drift Network in California and I know we used to deal with HPI E10s occasionally. Not as often as we thought would happen but it was an interesting concept.

besides that bs you would still need to buy scx10ii axles and on top of that those dont hold up vary well atleast the older versions dident

theres the 10-3 axles that have portals the capra like you sead then the trx4 axles and also redcats gen8 axles
the capra axles are already set up for servo on axle and 4 link up front so theres no panhard bar carp to deal with but

the capra axles would be wider than your stock axles but that set up would probably crawl really good
you would need to adjust your pinion gear cause of the gear reduction in the portal boxes but other than that should be rather easy

Well I am still in "Educated Guessing Mode" so I have time to parse the data and get it right. I have already done a number of modifications and am still testing those one at a time.

1: Weighted Tires
2: Cutting tire cleats
3: Offset
4: 4WS
5: Changed to 21T Motor

Oh and I am a brushed motor die hard. I still dont trust the glitchy nature of brushless motor/esc combos. Learned that during my drift days but never could get anyone to listen. Hell I still have my comm lathe sitting around here somewhere.

I may switch out to a 2s Lipo 1500 Mah for the weight considerations.

I must do these things because I must get to the top of our woodpile. :ror:

you really should check out the new brushless world the sensored motors are rivaling brushed motors for smooth start up while still give amazing wheel speed

I actually have. I used to teach newcomers to drift on how to tune and such. I know some brushless are great but I guess I am just an old timer. I like the "no nonsense" thing of brushed.

Maybe you can answer me this though. I always used NiMH batteries and I am told that my Redcat ESC can handle a 2s 11.1v LiPo battery but it would be great if you could validate that. Having a battery that is 3.3 ounces as compared to 12 is very cool. I know a great deal of this is COG based so that would be a boon.

your redcat esc is a rebranded hobbywing 1040 esc you can look up the specs on it but to answer your question it will run on up to 3s lipo rated at 11.1 volts or fully charged 12.6 volts down to a certain numbers of turns theres like a hole jumper that needs to be changed



most peole upgrade to a hobbywing 1080 esc for there crawlers

i use my 1040 escs as winch controlers due to there abulity to run 3s lipos



you realy should check in to the new brushless motors and escs

homls hobbies makes crawler spacific motors and escs that are buttery smooth with the lipos and escs running 12-25 volts its a whole new world out there

No worries, I will, I was one of the only people pushing the new Drifters on the Hobbywing setups when they first came out. Ill take a look. Thanks for the data on that, I do trust Hobbywing. They allowed me to get some poor young people into RC.
