I've got an axial ax10 deadbolt that I'm wanting to get some more speed out of. I'm planning on converting it into a monster truck eventually. What would you guys recommend for good speed upgrades? I'd prefer to not go brushless if i can help it. Thanks in advance.

How fast do you want to go and how much do you want to spend and how are you planning to use it is it a basher is it a crawler is it a race truck
With no other info i would say a 20t motor and 3s battery and bigger tires and sway bars

Idealy i would say buy a smt10 chassie links and sway bars
Steel ar60 axles 3.8 wheels
40 series tires
Mip driveshafts
2200-3500kv 1/8th scale brushless motor
Momba monster x esc
Some big bearing knuclkles

I don't plan to bash it really, maybe some small jumps, nothing crazy, so I'm thinking more"race" i mean i don't want huge speed, just more than the 15mph it does right now, maybe 25-30ish.

Ok 20t motor on 3s and sway bars should get you around 18-20 mph im guessing because the stock 27t is getting you about 15 mph the motor wont last long though realy to hit 30 your ether gona give up all your low end torque or your gona have to go brushless

You can also play with the pinnion gears to get more speed but again your motor wont last very long geared up realy high maybe 2 or 3 teeth on the pinnion any more than that and you would have motor temp issues becareful i just had a motor flame on cause it was geared to high also lost a esc for the same reason flame on lol thats why i say get the right motor

If you decide to stay brushed get a 550 can motor it will have more torque and last longer

Just get something designed to go that fast. The handling of the scale chassis is going to be severely limiting. Adding power just finds weak parts. Every part you upgrade will just move the fail point to the next weak link.
