Hey guys! I'm new to the comp crawling arena and I'm trying to build one from scratch with an AX10 Scorpion chassis and MOA converted Losi Night Crawler axles. I plan on using a Novak M2 Dig esc and a pair of Holmes motors. I currently have the chassis and axles. Would I be better off to have custom suspension links made or is there someone out there that is already ahead of me mass producing them? Is there anything else I need to know about attempting this hybrid vehicle? Thanks in advance!

Don't go with the m2...
I highly suggest to go dual esc ( holmes tekin or castle) save the frustration and headaches and don't buy the m2!!!
Junk IMO, more headaches and troubles than it's worth!

Do a little searching on the m2 , I'm not the only one who feels the same way about that.

Thanks for the input! Looking at the specs it looked like a good esc and the thought of having 2 less components was attractive. I was just trying to keep the electronics footprint small but I can work around that issue. Who makes the best custom links out there should I go with delrin or will something aluminum or titanium be ok?

The m2 was a good idea but went over about as good as a screen door on a submarine...
Look into " smashing" dual esc's...
It will give you a smaller" foot print"
That's what a lot of us comp guys do and run... You can find someone on here who can smash them for you and make them look real good and attractive!
As far as "custom " links I'm not sure.
Delrin is good, slides over the rocks well,
Aluminum tends to hang up sometimes, and TI is great too, but a little heavier on the wallet.

Would I be able to run dual esc's on a Spektrum DX3C?
4 channel is ideal; Futaba 4pl/s. Or 4pk/s preferred here. A good used 4pl & receiver can be had for $150-175 I'm not very knowledgeable about who makes the dig switches so you can use 3 channel. I'm sure someone will chime in that knows more about 3 channel I just don't, I run 4 channel futaba myself.

Nope, but.... running a single esc(HH or tekin fxr) with a Punk dig is bout the best you can run with the 3c.. works good an a great place to start for a newb. I started there and know a couple still running them with Great results!

dammit... I knew that... I got confused lol
Whoops!

That's what I had in my head... 1 esc with a dig.

Thanks for the help! Is there a significantly noticeable advantage to running dual esc's in the future?

Can you see better when the suns out or at night!? :D

Dual esc's is incomparable to a punk dig..
the punk gives you 4wd, dig, and burn.. if you spend the time running it and get good with it, it is a very competitive platform, IMO(in the right drivers hands)

Dual esc's, the hardest part is what tx to use and figuring out how to use it! Motor mixing is such an elite step above other options and makes crawling super easy, again, in the right hands or with enough driving time..

I'm new to the pro class, so take what you will from this.

I have driven my rig with the simple dig unit, and now with dual fxr's.

The best part I see with the dual esc setup is the ability to have "adjustable" overdrive/underdrive.

Sometimes, just a bit....or 2 bits....or 3 bits of overdrive, right when you need it, is really handy.

That wasn't possible with my simple dig unit.

On-or-off just isn't good enough in every situation.

I would never switch back to the dig unit after having experienced the ultimate control dual esc's gives you (granted, I am not that good at it yet...lol).
