Hello, (Hey sorry, I meant sweet, I was typing on my ipad and it didn't correct itself, crazy ipad)
I have been with rc's for a while now and I have a sweet truck ready for a slight restoration. Here is what is on the truck:
- 5.7 vortec 350 ci. (For all of you hemi people, well i wont say, lol)
- allision Heavy Duty transmission (Brand new)
- Heavy Duty rear suspension
- A/T tires, will be changing out soon, but remeber there 1000's of dollars not 60 dollars for a rc (going with tsl super swamper's, dont know size though)
- Truck has 200,000 miles but looks better than trucks with only 114,000 and yes it was kept in the garage when not in use (never in mud).
But hey its a '98 Chevorlet silverado Ext. Cab and get this I have 2 dual 12" in. glass-packs, and no exhaust pipe! (Short pipe under the bed, its LOUD!),
No I am not a redneck, no offense to anyone. Just a short thing telling about my awesome truck, Chevy forever, - axial 4x4 crawler

Any chances you could give more info on the Allison transmission behind the 350?

Interested in this, I did a Google search but did not come up with much.

Really, that's funny, because the guy that owned it before us pulled 50 ft trailers and the stock went out I guess though. So he should it was an allision, get this my grandparents surburban it's a 5.3 with an allision, it may sound like I don't know what I am talking about but I do know. It has an oversized driveshaft like the one off the surbutban so It has to be an allision, please ask any more questions you may have, thank you for the reply, - axial 4x4 crawler

5.3s don't come with Allison transmissions and it certainly won't work in a 1998.. Sorry..
The ONLY trucks GM released, with the Allison, has a Duramax or the 8.1 big block in front of them. The Allison takes a special TCM that can't be adapted to work with the 5.3 and 6.0 engines.
I know there were a couple guys with experimental TCM units out there, but they were PRICY to say the least.

It is more likely the trans is a 4L80E.
The oversized drive shafts came in LOTS of trucks. MY 2009 crew cab had a 6.0 and 6L80E, with the big drive shaft.

Roll under the truck.
If you transmission doesn't have one of these on the bottom, drivers side, towards the bell housing, it isn't an Allison 1000..

I'll bet your trans looks like this. 4L80E

Ok you proably right, I am wrong, but the transmission is far more than stock, and that driveshaft is not stock, its an after market or somehing. Please dont ask what brand, I dont know. But what i do know I called the old owner and he told me that the transmission is not stock because he had to replace it, it was pulling trailers so big that a diesel could pull, so it has a special towing thing under the console, its a towing device that you can use for heavy loads, but please believe me that it is a aftermarket tranny with driveshaft, and yes the driveshaft is new and a heck of a lot bigger than stock. thank you for you reply, please ask if you got anymore questions - axial 4x4 crawler
