A Day of Crawling, Eating and Fun at The Boulder House

Even if I were closer Ide still have to pass on tonight. Too close to a comp to be risking breaking parts

What's the fun in that? I say run it, and if it breaks fix it. ...at least that's what I did to my berg after stripping a 3rd gear during my Finals run. I had a points comp the very next day...which I won. I guess it was my turn to beat Stick King.

Where's Eric with the scores

I like going back through the day and seeing how everyone did

sorry...there's this thing called work kicking my azz...i will have everything compiled and posted by thursday night. i have to build a post with a TON of info on it...gonna take a while"thumbsup"

Results.....Finally

Hey everyone, I finally got the chance to compile all of the results from our big event last Saturday. First I would like to say THANK YOU to everyone who came out to the Boulder House and made this event a HHHHUUUUUUGGGGGEEEEE success!!!! It is so nice to see the level of brotherhood and support that this hobby has. I cannot wait until the next event and to see all of our new and old friends again. I wanted to extend a giant THANK YOU to Justin and his father for supplying all of our wonderful food. I think I can speak for everyone who attended in saying YYYYUUUUUUUMMMMMM"thumbsup".

Now for the part everyone has been waiting for...the results:

First comes the 50/50 drawing. We raised $174 in this drawing and the winner walked away with $87....that lucky person was STEVE aka Edge 0877...CONGRATULATIONS STEVE:mrgreen:.

Next was the Poker Crawl. For those of you who do not know what this is, think of it as a Poker Run for motorcycles. We setup a 5 gate course and you had 3 minutes to complete it. There were no penalty points to worry about, just progress each gate clean, and you would get a card for that gate. Finish the whole course clean within the 3 minutes and you would get 1 draw card for a total of 6 cards with 1 discard. The hands were recorded and the best poker hand won the pot. We raised $74 and the winner walked away with $37...that lucky person was Bob aka FRANK RIZZO...CONGRATULATIONS BOB"thumbsup"

Now comes the 3 preliminary courses...
What can I say...WOW were there some interesting:shock: gates on these courses. Each club represented at the event set up a course to spread the course design style across the region. COC and NOSTR setup the first 2 courses and WPAC set up the 3rd. It was very interesting to see the different lines each club picked for their courses, and it was fun to be challenged with some new lines.
Now here is where everyone stacked up:

StickKing..............28....-14....18=32

Now the last event...the top 10 finals course. This started out interesting and did not dissappoint in the end. Here are your final standings for the top 10 drivers of Holiday Havoc:

NitroJeff.........16+33=49
StickKing........22+32=54
Romulus22......18+47=65

Looking at those numbers show all the courses were very challenging but also very doable if done right. That's what I like. Although its not always very encouraging when some of the rookies only progress 1 or 2 gates.

So to anyone who had a hard time on any of the courses. Stick with it. We were all there at some point. "thumbsup"

Exactly. It's pretty much impossible to design courses that are challenging enough to make it a competition for the top drivers, yet allow the newer or less competitive drivers to finish courses.

...and there's nothing wrong with being new, or not wanting to be so serious with the hobby as it takes to be at the level necessary to win.

There were some very good drivers at this comp...in fact, it was a tough enough field that there were some really good drivers that didn't make the top 10.

I've always found it encouraging to compete against the best drivers. (That's why we make the trip down) You get to watch trucks do amazing things and if one truck can do it, mine can.
Keep practicing those problem gates until you figure out how to make it. Winning is a byproduct of confidence in your truck"thumbsup"

in my case, it's just dumb luck
