Wow… Dude….
If you had come in and asked some questions instead of arguing about us spending too much on our rigs when you could make a cheap RTR as good as ours. You seem fixated on how much money we spend on our rigs. Making statements like "Sorry bud..i can buy all your rigs and your house and car and not bat an eyelash...Don't assume im broke because I spend my money different than you do..EPIC FAIL!!!!!!" just show you to be a dick. Any utterly unbelievable too. I do't think there is a member on here that can buy one of our homes an not bat an eyelash. Pure blustering and nothing short of it.
The statements you made to start about not needing high end parts and 3S just made you look more the ass because we have all done that. We all started with a stock Honcho, or Wraith, or TLT, or HiLift. Or we came from the comp side where it was all custom built. To get our rigs competition ready, we went through the growing pains of discovering stock motors burn up…FAST. Stock servos burn up….FAST. Wrapping one of JRHs exquisite BR-XLs in an Axial wrapper is mortal sin. Bending tabs and adjusting timing on a stock can motor makes nice puddles of melted lacquer and pretty smoke.
Not all of us run VP wheels, VP Axles, VP Steering or VP Links. A lot of us make our own links or have a buddy in a machine shop make them. I have never used anything other than Stock axle cases from the SCX10, Wraith or XR10, but all were heavily modified after i broke all of them early in my building career.
Most of learned to weld or braze to make our own chassis and cages or to modify what we had. a few have learned to machine parts to sell us to help keep cost down performance up. There have been great innovative ideas from this board, especially on wheels and tires. but also on winch controllers, winches, steering geometry and shocks.
Read some of our build threads and see how they were posted. See what we did and often what we tried that didn't work.
Build a "Sleeper" but if you want it to be taken seriously, explain what you will do to the axles, tranny, steering and suspension to make it "Sleeper" ready and how that improves over stock. i.e. SCX10 axles with Beef Toobs, over/under drive, CVDs in the front, GripFab Lockers or spools, VP Chubs Knuckles and Lockouts. show us how you are going to recent your under 150 oz/in servos from cooking. Show us how you are going to compete with stock tires, we all know how to make wheels work well. I won the NIRC TTC with stock Axial wheels with Pro-Line TSLs. Don't show us a stock Rubicon with minor changes and sell it as a sleeper because it wasn't close.
So my favorite is to build off of an SCX10 Chassis with stock axles, CVDs, Toobs, GripFab spool, VP Chubs and Knuckles for the front with overdrive gears. Rear with Toobs, VP Lockouts. Tranny with RRgears throughout, HiTec HS7955 steering servo, home made links for suspension and steering, Pro-Line PowerStrokes shocks, VP or TSS or Mayhem Alloy wheels and some Rock Beasts, iRocks or Boggers. I prefer to run a 13T HH Crawlmaster with a BR-XL waterproof and a Castle BEC. I prefer a Q winch or one of the integy either with a controller from that canadian guy, lol. Lots of custom body work, tube work and accessorizing.
