I've had this New Bright ugly duckling for almost 2 years, it's time to finally do something with it. I ordered the topless version too so I can steal the interior, roll cage and windshield out of it. It will be rolling on 1.9 KMC Tanks from Vanquish and 4.19 BFG KM3 Mud Terrains from Pro-line with Crawler Innovations Lil Novas inside. Chassis will be an Element Enduro IFS platform with Artful Dodgers bashy plates underneath. Power will be all Tekin of course, just haven't decided if simple brushed or big brushless power yet....Also not sure what color I'm painting it. Already printed some factory-looking roof rails and mounted a Knight Customs Frontrunner rack that I printed for another rig but it was too long, but it fits nice on the Bronco! Lots more designing and 3D printing to be done to mount the body, more to come once I get the chassis built and first episode for Tekin Builds Filmed!

CHASSIS

Element RC Enduro Builder's Kit
Element RC IFS Conversion
Artful Dodgers Skid Plate
Artful Dodgers A-Arm Skid Plates
SOR EPX Kit
SOR EPX Trailing Arms (if I can make them work at the needed wheelbase)

ELECTRONICS

Tekin BXR or RX4
Tekin T35 or ROC412
Tekin T-360 Servo
Tekin 3S 4200 Power Cell
Custom LEDs

WHEELS & TIRES

Vanquish KMC Tank 1.9
Vanquish .350 Hubs (I think, we will see)
Pro-Line 4.19 BFG MT KM3
Crawler Innovations Lil Nova 4.25 Heavy Comp/Firm

Look at all that goodness! Tekin builds are fun to watch. Im with brian, goina watch this one come together

I did the same thing to aquire the interior. Curious to see how you get it set up in the body.

The stance with the 4.19 tires looks to be perfect...gonna be watching this one. "thumbsup"

Front bumper got the choppy chop, Traxxas bumper fits pretty well although it is a tiny bit too narrow but I can live with it. Also got the limb risers done, bought a kit from Club 5 and shortened them while opting not to use the big spring.

Yeah I hope it all comes together as planned!

Nice! I need to pick me up one of these bodies before they disappear.

There were still a few on Ebay last I looked!

Oh this is great! I love these Ty builds.

Hey thanks!

Frame and IFS with Knight Customs bits are mated, starting to mock up the body and make plan for the mounting solution. Also used the TRX bumper mount, with a little trimming it fits the Element frame rails decently. I think I am going to have to cut the front of the frame at least 1/4" so the bumper can sit where it needs to. This also causes interference with the Knight skid plate, which I may or may not use. The height with the lowering mounts may not be tall enough when all said and done.

Rear bumper got chopped off as well and the TRX bumper is fitting nicely. Just a bit of trimming to make it fit the rails and I'll need to drill a hole in each rail to mount it, but the height I think is really close!

Chassis is fully assembled, still have some tweaks to make but it's a roller! Wheelbase is 11.8" currently with Factory Team high clearance rear links. I think it's pretty dang close, may have to shorted it just a hair to be perfect.

Tossed some Beef Tubes SLW stainless brake disks in for a little bump in track width and scaleness along with Artful Dodgers a-arm and rear diff skid plates. Vanquish KMC Tank wheels, scale hardware and 4.19" KM3s.

Knight Customs IFS brackets.

Incision driveshafts for the SCX-10 and 10-II RTR fit nicely!

Lookin' good Ty!"thumbsup"

I really like how them Tanks look! And adding the Beef Tubes rotors and scale hardware sets them off!

I like the Artful Dodgers skids. I'll have to add them to my build also.

The geometry on the IFS is a bit off with the Knight lowering brackets and the bumpsteer was bothering me. After looking at it this morning and messing around, I found that mounting the steering link below the knuckle arm with about a 6mm spacer got rid of almost all bumpsteer. I swapped the ball stud out for a regular pivot ball and used a 20mm screw.

We also designed and printed a mount for the front bumper and the prototype turned out almost perfect! I really wanted to use the skid plate setup, so I removed the Knight skid and cut the stock Element skid down to try to protect the hinge pin mounts and hopefully reduce that snag point.

Fiddling with the IFS more I have the camber and toe pretty dang close at (what I think) the final ride height will be. Working on the body mounts today and plan to use the stock electronics side trays and pinch the rocker panel in a cool looking rock rail of some sort. More soon!

Great info! I noticed the same geometry problem on my IFS with the KC lowering brackets I'm currently working on.

I'm gonna give this a try. Thanks for sharing!"thumbsup"

Printer grenaded last week, but I managed to get it temporarily fixed and new parts are on the way! Been working on the body mounting system, started with some rockers that capture the body. They bolt right to the Element side trays and should accomplish the goal!

Also have some new Vanquish rear links on the way, the wheelbase at 11.8" is still just a hair too long. Needs a tiny bit knocked off and rear bumper brought in a bit. Moving into modding the head and tail light areas now for the lighting kit I picked up!

Mandatory fleckth shot.

Time to start working on this body. Today's project is work this VS4-10 Origin interior over until it fits! It is just a tad too wide and the back needs some trimming so I can move the whole thing back. Plan is to fill in the hole in the back and put some scale stuff back there. Maybe a dog and some grocery bags.

Body modifications continue! The lights on this thing were less than adequate, fugly and not accurate.....Traxxas light buckets for the win!

ty%40tekin-17800-albums4681-69396.jpg

I took a gamble and ordered head and tail light assemblies from the TRX-4 2021 Bronco and the head lights arrived yesterday. I quickly ripped them out of the packaging and stuck them up on the Bronco and....an almost perfect size. So I grabbed a step bit and my Dremel and went to work cutting away plastic and after about an hour of slow and steady trimming of both the grille and the light bucket itself, I have a near perfect fit even with the turn signal! Plan is to glue a standoff to the back of the grille and use the one mounting tab to secure them in place. Really happy this is working out so I can use the killer lighting kit I found on evilbay.

Tail lights are still in the mail, I might have them Friday but this build will come to a halt for 2 weeks while I am on the road.

Both headlights are roughed in and the LED kit is crazy cool! Off, DRLs (as shown) plus low beam, high beam, hazards, brake lights, tail lights and blinkers! These are the most scale headlight I have ever seen and I am 100000% glad I decided to give these a shot.

Looking very good, can’t believe they fit so well.
