2015 MNRCRC Season - Discussion/Idea Thread

Yes to Davanni's.
As far as the running order I don't see any reason why we couldn't run the trail class first and so on.

Question for all you guys who have been doing this a while, have we ever had enough people where we could run more than one class at once? Seems like the hardest part of a comp day is waiting around until it's your class. With more activity, it won't be as boring.

While the numbers did help run multiple courses at a time, we also had more people to get through. In that regard, it's really a double edged sword.

Looks like the only votes for a meeting date were for December 7th. So let's go with that. Dana, could you add that to the OP? Thanks.

Is everyone ok with the same Davanni's? (By Hub Hobby in Richfield)

Davannis works for me.

OP updated with the date and place. Just need a time.

Once again, those who are regulars have gone the full circle with this. There needs to be more workers involved...period. You guys realize all the changes you want to make come at the cost of Kevin's time or Mike's. Basically, newbies....step up and be part of this versus just showing up. There is a lot of work to make these events and especially the awards and prize planning.

I personally have more on my plate to be involoved every comp. As my son gets older, we will be making more events. "thumbsup":flipoff:

So, those who want to see more going on...step up and take something on...don't just ask for more, DO MORE!!

I think that in order to take the load off of Kevin and Mike the club would have to be willing to go a step further and perhaps nominate, elect, or maybe take volunteers for other officers. Such as a comp. committee and/or scale committee, with each being in charge of planning and set up of events. Would this or could this work with this group?

could someone post up the address to the Davannis so I can relay the message to the facebookers.

Wait a minute, you came to a meeting a few years back and you've been to Hub? Lol.

Google it. It's on penn.
I have only been in the club for a year and I have never been to a single meeting.... I have not been to that hub either..

Huh, swore you came to Davanni's a lil while back. I'm confused easily...

Ok, address has been posted. And fyi, that hub is worth the stop. "thumbsup"

Hey you guys, I would like to host the first Snowcrawl on the same day as the winter meeting, with the hopes that people that drove a ways (or just wanted to) would be able to attend both. If the meeting could be over by 11:30 or noon, I'd be able to set a time of 1:00 or 1:30, giving time for peeps to eat and grab last minute items and get to my place and still be able to finish by dark or close to it.

Does that work?

I agree Ryan. That's why I've been trying to help with the organizational stuff here on rcc and am willing to do help with any aspect. The only way we can be successful with growth is if we take on more responsibility.

I've thought about the same thing Bill. Kevin made a great statement at the howl crawl that the club has been driven and lived due to the entire club having a say in what we do and don't do. It would be great to add more organization while still keeping key decisions with the club members instead of a small group.

Should be a good meeting.

What time does the meeting start, or did I miss that in the original post?

Nothing officially stated. Phil is voting for something early so we can go to his place afterward and run the indoor course.

Store doesn't open till 11 so that would be the earliest.

As for the meeting time, we've traditionally held them around noon. A couple things to keep in mind... Davanni's doesn't charge to use their meeting rooms as long as everybody's buying food. So we shouldn't schedule it for a time when nobody is gonna eat. Davanni's doesn't open until 11am. Also, most of our meetings have taken 2 or 3 hours (depending on the amount of bickering ).

As for officers/volunteers, I'm not opposed to either, but we haven't had much luck with either historically. We tried a treasurer once, but we went back and forth for weeks trying to dig out of him simply how much money the club had. And most of the volunteers disappeared during the season, so the tasks just fell back on my lap anyways. In order for it to work, I would want us to first list the tasks we are ok with delegating, then take a serious look at the candidate(s) to make sure it was a good fit.
